  • How is it "like Idiocracy"?

    [Read the article: "Semi-Pro"]

Because the whole exercise is idiotic?

I like Ferrell, and he has wasn't some no-talent comedian who got lucky. He must have just got lucky to get into the Groundlings, amirite? I'd like to see some of the witty keyboard comedians on here that are trashing Ferrell as some kind of "talentless hack who got lucky" or was propped up by Tina Fay and the writers on SNL, match his improvisation skills. Is his use of physical humor not cerebral enough for all the fart smelling postmodern eggheads out there?

The movie might not be good, but to trash his career is simply jealousy or sour grapes. Why aren't you all on SNL then? Where is your version of the Groundlings? With your witty retorts such as the ones you use on Ferrell? That's right, you aren't funny and/or can't do improvisation to save your life, but you sure can point out why Ferrell isn't funny and/or is overrated, even though he is excellent at improvisation, is arguably one of the funniest people currently making movies, and has been in some of the funniest skits in SNL's long history. Everyone is a critic I guess.

But don't worry, there are only so many American sports that he can make profitable movies about, and he has covered most of them. What's left for him to cover in his "sports flick" phase anyway? A Football movie? A Golf movie? Some Olympic Sport like wrestling? Cricket?

"AT&T works in more places, like NSA HEADQUARTERS"

The Billboard Liberation Front today announced a major new advertising improvement campaign executed on behalf of clients AT&T and the National Security Agency. Focusing on billboards in the San Francisco area, this improvement action is designed to promote and celebrate the innovative collaboration of these two global communications giants.

Quick Question I posted in your last post:

Just curious if the closing of Guantanamo is a done deal now? McCain spoke out against it big time during the debates, and I don't see Obama or Dead Horse Hillary keeping it open.

Doesn't seem to be anyone bringing this up. According to the rhetoric and the debates, all three candidates favor closing it. Is McCain going to flip-flop and keep it open? What about Obama or the Dead Horse?

Looks like the War Street Journal is wondering too:

Scientist: Turn Gitmo Into Disease Research Center

    Posted by Jacob Goldstein

Whatever happens in the presidential election this fall, it looks like the military prison at Guantanamo Bay isn’t long for this world: McCain, Obama and Clinton all favor closing it. So why not turn it into a center for tropical disease research, asks a tropical disease doc?

Seems to me like Guantanamo's fate should be sealed... we'll see.

  • England's Tattle-Tale Brigade

CCTVs in England and the Tattle-Tale brigade doesn't seem to be going over too well with all of the locals. There are people out there actively destroying them.

    Motorists Against Detection

    http://www.speedcam.co.uk/welcome.htm

A fun Image search of some trashed cameras.

    http://images.google.com/images?q=Motorists+Against+Detection&ie=UTF-8&oe=utf-8&rls=org.mozilla:en-US:official&client=firefox-a&um=1&sa=N&tab=wi

The preferred method is to file a tire with gas, put it on a chain, hang it over the camera, and light it up.

But as Big Brother gets more advanced, so does Little Brother, like the use of camera phones, i.e. small, cheap, video recorders to capture big brother's abuses and then plaster the net with the video.

Just wait until they're all back in the States....

Forever is a long time to wait.

  • A nice gallery of destroyed "Gatsos"

[Read the article: George Bush told the truth yesterday]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

    http://www.speedcam.co.uk/gatso2.htm

This page is probably the highlight of the entire site. To my knowledge this is the largest collection of wrecked Gatsos on the internet, and its growing rapidly. So long as these cameras are robbing motorists of their cash they will continue to be destroyed.

Five Gatsos have just gone up in Nuneaton. One of them was completely destroyed before it had even gone live. The workmen hadn't even finished installing it.

I use firefox and a lot of times on Salon a script somewhere on Salon's page (ad) hangs up and I kill it. Could be related.

  • Translation (save yourself the time of reading the post)

"I'm scared that Nader will take votes from Hilldog, who I still consider my champion. He must be smeared and marginalized at all costs."

Looks like Ron Paul isn't as crazy as they say. Only a crazy person would want to be known as "the guy that got Hillary elected", so he said no 3rd party run. But for Nader to further known as "the guy that spoiled it for Hillary", that's pure genius.

Ron Paul 3rd party run doesn't seem so bad now does it, eh Dems? Lolz.

  • "Nader is to blame for Iraq."

Thank goodness "James" Kirchickenhawk, professional lap dog ball licker, and the good, honest, open-minded non-bigots at TNR weighed in to let us all know who the real bigots are and aren't.

And of course Kirchick can't help hitting the Ron Paul Punching Bag a little bit, since it will forever be the claim to fame that has somehow earned him the title of "bigot-buster". Maybe he works out with some of the letter writers here on Salon?
