5000

A large majority are ROMs... that suck, but they still count. Kind of like the Congress. Now there is just Warcraft.

but really, WTF is a conservative and WTF is a liberal, really?

Because they don't seem to based on any kind of coherent ideology, at least not at this time. Now it seems more like Divide and Conquer, Us vs. Them, pick one side and we pick the other no matter how much it might contradict our platform free-for-all more than anything else, an American Butter Battle, especially when it becomes the zeitgeist of the party.

"Liberals" like Big Government at home but decry Big Government abroad (unless it is labeled "humanitarian" for whatever reason), and "Conservatives" like Big Government abroad but decry Big Government at home (unless it involves Police State). Then there are neoliberals and neoconservatives who both love warmongering. Both sides seem to love the Central Bank, both sides have their massive special interest tax payer funded pet projects, and both are heavily influenced by AIPAC other foreign PACS. Nothing but different flavors of statism, one claims to want it at home, one claims to wants it abroad, in reality it creeps into both. Everyone wants the Government to work for them and simultaneously work against those they dislike.

And it all comes back to Buckley, and the Neocons as Moses finding the Republican party after being exiled from the Left. Neat how things work out like that.

and, again, we all know why Tim Russert gives Hagee

Seems pretty obvious. Because they are RAPTURE READY, BABY! BRING ON THE CHRISTIAN ZIONISM! (just make sure to leave out the millions of Jews that will have to die in order to fulfill the prophecy part, kkthxbai?)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mjMRgT5o-Ig

Those people standing there on American soil and waving the flag of a foreign country, that's ok, because the country isn't Islamic (the Saudis probably get a pass), and is, well, Israel, with whom we have a special relationship, like when it comes to who is allowed to have certain weapons (quiet down Vanunu! You unpatriotic traitor!). If the tail end of the message remains unchanged, the "Jews will die" part, and those flags had Arabic on them, those people would not have McCain's public support, they would be on vacation in Cuba.

"Has anybody written to Russert to ask him about this obvious double-standard?"

Yeah, they probably all end up in the Criticism Folder, normally called the Junk Mail Folder.

ZOMFG you nailed my perceptions about the left/right divide perfectly!

Democrats espoused tolerance and the community good at their own expense when they were uniformly accused of big spending and big government.

OMG that is EXACTLY what I think of when I hear the names Nancy Pelosi, Harry Reid, or Diane Feinstein. EXACTLY! You nailed it!

@ WT

So where are the answers then? Show me how great top down programs like new math have been in improving Math skills.

And I went to a public school (cept for one year of high school and up to 5th grade), so I don't really know what your point is. Sharing books with the other 30+ kids in my class and three kids to a locker was fun and all, but should I have paid more attention in Math, or learned new new math, before I went off to college and got a degree in it? Old math seems to work just fine. Maybe I could be Miss Teen USA?

"If it was up to me"

So what?

If it were up to me my dog would shit gold bricks on my shag carpet instead of soft dog turds that I have to use a steam vac on to get out completely.

That's the point. It's not up to you how elementary school teachers teach math, it's up to top-down bureaucrats who have their own agendas, mostly revolving around $.

Liberal Authoritarians

SHHHH!! Someone might bring up the topic of eugenics.

ROFLMFAO@LWM

LWM, King of all the Anonymous Cowards and Sock Puppets, accusing someone else of sock puppetry and anonymous cowardice. That's rich. I think that the anon thing will have much much much more of an effect on than me. Now you have to log on to one of your various sock puppets or pseudonyms when you want to go crazy.

I stopped using the anon tag a while ago. Nobody cares about what nobodies have to say anyway. Besides, I would always forget to check the box and just say something rude using my normal handle.

Did you but into that? I guess you caught me. LWM is my sock puppet straw man.

OK, I get it. "When in doubt, beat up on Ron Paul"

/yawn

Funny how I don't see that tactic used when discussing the Iraq War or Foreign Policy. Maybe we can talk about how the war isn't going to end, not now, not in 2010, and not in 2012, due to "contingencies" that will come up? But I guess since Ron Paul is antiwar that will make Obama's decision to go with McCain's million year war ok when the time comes. I can already see it now, "What? Ron Paul isn't ok with bombing Africa to save the poor Africans? What a Racist!".

Ron Paul sure makes a convenient punching bag, doesn't he? I guess I could go on and on about Stalin, Mao, Hillary Clinton, and other leftist heroes, using them as a punching bag myself, but I guess I am too "mature" for that. Keep thinking that Ron Paul woke me up if it makes you think less of me, whatever makes you happy in the Ivory Tower of Academia.

A socialist who works for a socialist institution is promoting socialism!

Whoulda thunk it?

Thursday, February 28, 2008 01:24 PM

Maybe Glenn can beat up on Ron Paul a little bit too?

Since they sound EXACTLY the same when it comes to Blowback and the invasion of Iraq?

i.e. "Invading Iraq is exactly what OBL and Al-Qaeda want to bring people to their cause."

In this case will the kid gloves be on when you slam Paul, play guilt by association, and call him names?
