  • The nation is desensitized to war

[Read the article: Warnings to Russia from Joe Lieberman and Lindsey Graham]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

I am agast that we have showboating politicians goading the US and other countries into war.

Guess I kinda thought some responsible folk (maybe some folk in Denver?) would be shouting from the f*&king rooftops that this madness, this provoking of other world powers, this lust for war everywhere has to stop!

The war pimps need to be called out for what they are.

Whatever it takes - graphic footage on prime-time TV of dismembered children's bodies, grieving American families - there needs to be an effort to put war in perspective.

  • Looks like the demos have no desire

[Read the article: What's missing from the Democratic convention?]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

    to turn this ship around.

Sad. We're witnessing the end of America; we're on the fast-path to becoming (already there?) a third-world nation with nukes.

The silence of the so-called opposition about the crimes of the administration letigimizes them.

The convention is the right forum for the demos to make the case, yet they did not. Maybe the demos plan to continue the criminal policies we've seen in the past 8 years?

  • 'Conservatives' separate themselves from bush

[Read the article: Growing right-wing opposition to the Paulson plan]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

The so-called conservatives need to separate themselves and to separate the ideals of neoconservativism from the bush big-spending maniacs.

As Digby says, conservatism cannot fail, it can only BE failed.

Looks like the push is to make this about paulson and bush, not about the so-called conservative policies that helped cause this mess in the first place.

  • Sarah talking about Two state solution?

[Read the article: The death of GOP electoral tactics on the war]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

    Doesn't matter what she says.

    Really.

I know folk who say she mopped the floor with Joe B. last night.

I don't think her and McMansion's fans even listen to what they say anymore.

Milf and McMansion will win every debate, score every point, be always and forever correct, thuthful and wise.

  • Strange.....

[Read the article: Steve Pearlstein's strange attempt to glorify Hank Paulson and himself]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

MonkeyMan bush gets on TV, the markets crater worldwide.

Paulsen wants to give a cool 700bil, and the markets slide downward.

The Brits/Europeans talk about guaranteeing loans - and not giving money the markets starts to rise.

The theivery is obvious - the markets do not want any part of it.

If we can keep commando chimpo off the teevee talking about "we're in this together" we might actually survive this.

  • Waiting for the RW Screetchwads

[Read the article: Five detainees ordered released "forthwith" after seven years at Guantanamo]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

Wonder how the RW screetchwads will present this ruling to their thirsty-for-truth nation?

How will they spin this bush43 appointee as a terrorist-enabler? Will they even mention that Judge Leon was a bush43 appointee?

  • The corp media at its best

[Read the article: Widespread praise for Obama's new economic team]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

Who in their right mind could state that the corporate media is worth a damn.

We could use lessons from the old-time Solviets who knew how to parse the utterances of Pravda and TASS to decode the doublespeak.

ALso, I seem to recall Richard Cheney appointing himself as veep - his looking around and ended up in front of a mirror.

the dim son had nothing to do with it.

  • I must hang out with an odd crowd

[Read the article: Joe Klein's extreme revisionism]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

I never heard anyone other than the pressitutes say anything positive about the flight suit antic.

Just the opposite - even bush supporters I know did not appreciate the theatre. Most, if not all, I know cited how foolish such antics are when the nation faces issues.

I don't recall hearing a single acquaintance say the flight suit stunt was cool, or whatever.

I'd laugh out loud if I were in the presence of anyone swooning over bush in his halloween costume.

  • Need to get folk to stop watching MSM

[Read the article: NBC and McCaffrey's coordinated responses to the NYT story]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

Maybe we could convince Klattu and Gort to modify their technology to shut off all TVs and talk radio for a long time.

"The year the TV news stood still"

Hell - I'd pay admission price to see that movie.

  • Bleat, bleat. The remaining senate repubs need a way of baring their fangs in public

[Read the article: Eric Holder, Jack Quinn and the Rich pardon]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

This marc rich thing gives the mealy-mouthed msm something to bleat about. Sounds like they're already on it.

Don't know about all of Obama's appointments but I think they are a fairly inoffensive lot - to senate repubs. Sure, senate repubs will be obstructionist but not when confirming Hillary or gates. They can save their fangs for Holder.

Makes the repubs look relevant when they growl at the feelthy lawyer-type who had 'something to do' with pardoning a rich FOB.

Bet those senate repubs can't wait to get in front of the TV cameras during the Holder confirm hearings and show their relevance.

Bet the TV cameras can't wait for the Holder confirmation hearings, either.

  • Now dems are in charge

[Read the article: Vague pledges to "end torture" and "comply with treaties and laws"]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

Are we seeing knee-jerk reactions with those who support anyone with a 'D' after their name?

Do such folk really think the 'D' bestows some magic that turns blatantly unconstitutional and evil acts and laws into something good?

I guess only 'R's are greedy and power-seeking. Those 'D's are wholesome, altruistic, benevolent folk who plan to use such powers for 'good'

Let's denounce laws and acts for what they are, not who sponsors or supports them.

  • NYT editorial - Criminal charges against 'Top Pentagon Officials" but

[Read the article: Demands for war crimes prosecutions are now growing in the mainstream]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

    notably, not bush or cheney.

Nice of the NYT to lend its heft behind "a strong case' for bringing charges against former officials.

Of course, no one in charge now has anything to do with torture.

Of course the NYT will never, in-no-way ever, admit that there is "a string case" for bringing charges against bush or cheney or anyone else in charge.

After decades, the way the NYT and the rest of the media toadies up to the admitted violators of our most cherished rights still turns my stomach.

  • The democrats have no principles. Does Obama have any?

[Read the article: How new is Obama's New Politics?]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

People without principles never gain respect from anyone. Even if you disagree with a principled person, you may respect them for their stand.

How many of us have heard "I never liked reagan but at least you knew where he stood."

The democrats have repeatedly demonstrated over decades that, as a political party, they are bereft of principles. Is Obama following the democratic mold?

I eagerly await dems and Obama gaining respect for taking principled stands. Oh, the hell with the respect - I'll just take the principled stand!

When have you ever heard, "I disagree with Obama but at least he stands for something"

  • Nothing ceases to amaze me anymore

[Read the article: The Washington establishment's plans for Obama's executive orders]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

I thought once I reached the half-century mark, I'd be hard to stun or astonish.

The mindlessness of the media squaking heads will never cease to amaze me - even after I reach the century mark (and beyond!)
