Obama Fixation

Camille,

It's difficult to understand how an insightful, bright, feminist can buy into Obama-mania. Citing the rumors of the nut-job right for his fall in the polls ignores his shortcomings. His gaffs about foreign policy, wishy-washy energy policy views, and vague healthcare prescriptions give me pause when seriously considering him.

While you cite Hillary's (and Bill's) lack of character, you do skip any analysis of Obama's. Neither Presidential candidate is great. But, I cannot vote for a candidate who is consciously JFK-lite! The Lite part is a distinct lack of accomplishment in his brief career in the Illinois Legislature or the US Senate. JFK had a resume; Obama has a publicist.

I am disappointed in my favorite liberal and a true feminist.

Channeling vs. Chanel

Dang, Yang, where do you get the stuff you're smokin'? It seems that Palin has given the Obama-ites dyspepsia. Flyover country produces some tough gals. Palin may be tougher than you are.

Your argument is thin and angry. She did throw out a Republican AG, State Party Chair, and spanked the Gov of Alaska. The Pelosi-Reed axis left William ($90k Freezer) Jefferson in office, and a bevy of sweetheart mortgage receivers (From the head of Countrywide)with little mention.

I suppose that Dems are immune from corruption? Is that why the Congressional approval rating is half of Dubya's?

I think it's the Chanel factor. Palin doesn't do designer, disses the NE media, has a Steelworker husband, and five (count em')children. Apostasy!!!

But worse than that she has had substantive jobs, Mr. Obama has not.

Palin is a feminist to be admired

Thanks for castigating the knee-jerk Liberal ideologues! While I don't agree with many of your beliefs, I applaud your view that feminism is a state of mind and not a political ideology.

I do have difficulty that you vote Democrat but claim to be a libertarian. They seem at odds with each other, especially with the repression of dissenting voices called political correctness.

No your kinda' gal

Come on Becca, get real. The plain vanilla feminist wing of the Democrat Party have been sucking up to men....like Bill Clinton without a peep about his woman-hating womanizing. Who is sucking, er up, to whom?

It is unfair to Hillary! Those good ol' white boys n' gals, like Teddy, Howard, and Carolyn, stole what was rightfully hers. She's suffered enough! Whinge, whinge, whinge!

Population Control - Get the Government out of our Bedroom

We have had a generation of Sex-ed and widely available birth control but still have over half of the mothers not intending to get pregnant! What's with that? It speaks to the failure of policy!

I am not sure who would sit on the Propogation Board, subsidiary of the Department of Conception. Frankly, Paul Ehrlich et al are out to lunch. I think that NYC is over-populated. Perhaps we should just neuter and spay all the residents.

What's this about McCain? Is it that he likes children, including orphans? What about Palin? I think this erudite discussion is so much mental masturbation.

Giving this article electronic publication is at best raising the absurd to the level of the silly.

Hurricane Salon

I read with amusement the hysterical anti-Palin articles. This is another in a series that I expect to continue long past the McCain-Palin triumph of articles where "facts" are fungible. I would like to see half the effort expended in rectal exams of Obama-Biden.

Yes, I'll stay in "Flyover Country." If I go to the theater, I'll continue to go to London. Have a Sunny day!

The Left Continues its Infantile Behavior

I had hoped with the election, the Left could "move on." This artisit clearly hasn't moved beyond the Looney Left. It is on a par with the maturity of the Clinton White House staffers removing the W from computer keyboards. Surely, even Salon cannot take this guy seriously!?!?

More tiresome Blather North vs. South

Having spent 20 years in the US automotive industry, I know that the UAW, Congress, and management are responsible for this mess. US automakers build cars that "people don't want" because the have to meet CAFE goals. Therefore, it is cheaper to lose $1-2,000 per unit on small ugly cars than to pay the fines and endure berating by Congressmen and women. The UAW is corrupt and venal as the management is entitled and narcissistic. Congressional Democrats have already told the UAW that they will bail their lazy butts out.

Transplant automakers do have several advantages: 1. no legacy costs paying workers who don't work; 2. no convoluted work rules; 3. Protectionist home markets = no US competitors; 4. Small home countries that demand small cars, therefore, CAFE is not an issue.

New Yorkers in particular have little knowledge or regard for the rest of the country. This blithe ignorance allows them to assume that America lives cheek to jowl in macadam enclaves built upon an island made of mud. Fortunately not!

Snarky in NYC

I don't know why Salon and its Luddites are so terrified of Sarah Palin and her family. The Left is so intoxicated with its own self-righteousness that its true believers must attack anyone unlike them. Salon skated on the Kennedy and Gore family booze and drug fests. The NY Press has laid out their prayer rugs for Obama and prostrated themselves before him. If it weren't so nausiating, I would be amused.
