beautiful story, well told

Nice work, Amy. You got it right from my pov. We weren't 16, but at 19 it felt equally daunting at the time.

BUT....

What about a LONG FORM laden swallow?

What's he hiding??!?!?!?

which begs the question....

Do certifiable insane people possess enough rational self awareness to realize they're insane? LondonBoy? Anyone?

Quote from the front of the rope line:

Move along, please - there's nothing to see here.

down in front. You're making it hard for the people who don't want to see any more of Palin to see her.

There must be some inversely proportional relationship between an internet fixation and the amount of "I'm not interested in THIS" comments that these fixations attract.

@You don't care....

You're absolutely right about exactly ONE thing... I DON'T care.

satisfied?

Now, take your pills.

man... I'm starting to enjoy this too much

Hey... it's a slow Monday....

So... I followed whocares? down the rabbit hole of the provided url. And BOY! What a revelation! They have an electronic copy of The Evil Kenyan's Certificate of Live Birth and TO PROVE how "faked" it is they ALSO have a - and yes, I'm quoting - "real Hawaii Certificate" for comparison's sake. Heck... it even has a state seal at the top!!!! And everything! You know... the Hawaii state seal with the year that Hawaii was admitted to the Union... 1959 to be exact.

BUT..... but, but, but! What's THIS!?!?!?!?!?

The "REAL Hawaii Certificate" has a BIRTH year of 1930!!!!!!

NEARLY 3 DECADES BEFORE HAWAII WAS EVEN A STATE!!!!!

Oh my goodness!!!! The evil plot continues!!!!

I'm SOOOOO glad that diligent little worker bees like whocares are on top of this!!!!

Monday, July 27, 2009 01:55 PM

Hey @nobody cares.....

Can you give us your well informed take about that 1930 Certificate of Live Birth from the STATE of Hawaii?

I'm sure you can.....

huh?

But all republicans are not stupid and evil,

Oh?

So.... what percentage of Republicans ARE stupid and evil? If not 100% - for which a plausible argument could be made - then what? 80%? 90%?

Personally, I have yet to see evidence that it is not, indeed, 100%.

Are the dems any better off?

Look at the immediate preceding article about the "Blue Dog" Democrats. This illustrates Will Rogers' maxim about Democrats not belonging to any organized party perfectly. If you can't pass any major piece of legislation without watering it down so much to make it palatable to various regional sensibilities then how does that differ from the problems the Republicans face? With completely ineffective "leaders" like Reid and Pelosi unable to enforce any sort of discipline I don't see how the bumbling, hapless Democratic party comes out looking like any real alternative for voters in '12.

What we really have in this country is 538 (at least) little pockets of regional parochialism. That some of these happen to swing to one column or another isn't really indicative of any inherent strength on the D side, or weakness on the R side. Everything's in play all the time and yet nothing is.

I fear we're approaching a level of Balkanization that will increasingly make this huge, disparate country ungovernable on the Federal level. At that point the self-styled "drown it in the bathtub" conservatives will have won... no matter WHICH party is in titular control.

GA burnout

I've been a graphic artist for 30 years. Surprisingly, I survived the great Desktop disaster and emerged with my picas and points intact. I understand the burn out factor. I found my solution in going to work in the belly of the Educational Beast. Yes, I have to babysit clueless secretaries who are "into" graphics (Microsoft Publisher!! GACK!)... but I've sort of just relegated myself to being a "resource" and taking pleasure in helping people.

I get to work with a lot of high school kids on their projects and during brief internships. That's rewarding. And yes, I still get to do some graphic work and it's not selling Budweiser, but something that I believe in: Public Education. So, that's a plus.

One thing that DOES keep me sane is that I've had a parallel four decade career as a professional musician. Having something independent of my "day job" has been a life saver to me. I hope you find something, and maybe it will be something you can do simultaneously with what brings the cabbage in. In my musical career I play with people I want to play with, play what I want, when I want, and don't have to answer to anybody's foolish expectations. I hope you find something like that. (and no... being a musician isn't for everybody... but that's another story)
