There is none so blind as he who will not see.
This website is FULL of extremely good reasons to vote for the Obama/Biden ticket, and equally full of very good reasons to vote against McCain/Palin. That you and your Republican troll club were sent out with the "empty suit" jive as your sole talking point a couple months ago and haven't checked back into message central since isn't anyone's responsibility but your own.
Everyone else has moved on. Well... not your candidate, but everyone else who counts.
One of the "49 Character Qualities" from Bill Gothard's website (gotta love THAT name for an evangelical)
Truthfulness vs. Deception
Earning future trust by accurately reporting past facts (Ephesians 4:25)
Sarah's got some 'splainin' to do.
Rove doesn't do or say ANYTHING without a reason. And those reasons are NEVER accuracy or honesty. Everything out of this incredibly destructive, anti democracy slime ball is calculated to gain power for first, himself, and secondly, whichever screaming far right Republican operative he's on the payroll of. I wouldn't trust HIS assertion of the sun rising in the east.
Every war room article attracts immediate posts from the squad of righteously angry, fake PUMAs and their fellow apologist Republican party operatives. Here we are... already on a second page and not a word out of any of them.
Maybe they're praying?
So... if the end times are over, does that mean that the self professed "Christians" lost?
Not that I believe any of this twaddle of course, but it's more enjoyable to laugh than vomit.
And as far as Salon somehow energizing these people by supposedly not "discussing the issues" - a contention I would characterize as specious - I seriously doubt that anyone comes here who hasn't long ago made up their minds about who they're voting for.
I don't see any ads... rollover or otherwise.
But then I paid to be here.
Rasmussen is pretty reliable. That being said, this election could very well surprise a lot of people for all the reasons that have been discussed elsewhere endlessly.
One thing that I consider a rather glaring anomaly in the state by state electoral vote grid on Rasmussen is the inclusion of my home sate, Oregon, in the "leans Democratic" column. I believe this is a completely safe state for Obama - more so than next door Washington, which Rasmussen graces with a "likely" label.
It would be a surprise of major proportions if Oregon went for the Republicans this cycle. The GOP doesn't hold any statewide positions beside sthe surprisingly embattled Senator Gordon Smith, and he's been forced to run a campaign that portrays him as Barack's best friend with nary a mention of the dreaded R word. He MUST have some polling data that is driving that decision.
So... my local knowledge and historical context tells me that Rasmussen either isn't asking the right questions or is misinterpreting the results in some way in THIS state. That could be true many other places as well.
Whether this is good or bad for either candidate varies from situation to situation. But in Oregon, it would indeed be a complete, near miraculous return from the dead for McCain to prevail in November.
Palin's "annointment" isn't playing very well here in Oregon either. It's at least of no consequence, if not an outright drag on McCain's chances. I've seen polling data that has her negatives rocketing up by the day among likely voters. I'll try to dig that out. This is a trend that is starting to show up as a ghost in a lot of the polling data out there.
With events outpacing the campaigns it's hard to tell where any of this lands. After a week like we've just been through, it's time to throw away most, if not all conventional wisdom concerning historical context.
So... honest question here... If your contention is that Salon is paying too much attention to Palin, why do you so diligently make sure to mention her on every thread? You are personally responsible for bringing her up in regards to this post.
If you claim to be made unhappy by some action by others, why perpetrate the exact same action yourself so predictably?
just a question...
complaining about words being "taken out of context"....
That's not dishonest....
It's karmic
It's my impression after a long life lived among hunters and average joe gunowners that the people who are going to shoot others merely to take their possessions are ALREADY using their guns for that purpose. The overwhelming majority of those folks don't vote anyway - many of them disenfranchised due to long lists of priors, if not actually incarcerated.
The average NRA "law abiding" gun owner - the hunters and "sportsmen" - like to pretend that they're the "militia" standing between an out of control big bad government and our "rights", but recent history of who the NRA backs and their "army" of sheep falls into to line to support makes any such claims ridiculous on their face.
I harbor extreme doubts that any significant portion of the NRA membership will EVER join into an armed insurrection, or even have the inclination to loose their firearms on their fellow citizens simply to take their possessions. They're just not wired that way.
Experienced gang bangers and other thugs would take the arm chair NRA "patriots" out immediately anyway. Those are the guys who would exploit a societal breakdown that your post imagines.
Membership in the NRA is mostly an indication of conformity and, secondarily, a willingness to capitulate and give up rights... not the courage or insanity (depending on your p.o.v.) to exercise them violently.
All this... "if this, then this, and then THIS" mobius strip analysis reminds me of the old saw:
