@Sirdook
[Read the article: Congress votes to immunize lawbreaking telecoms, legalize warrantless eavesdropping]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]The Republicans are well-known for their love of spying on US citizens and using that information to rat fuck the country. I expect such behavior.
Obama stated he would give us hope. He lied. And we still get rat fucked. Logically, it is useless to hope.
Actually, any extra cash will go to EFF/ACLU.

Verizon wireless and T-Mobile
[Read the article: Congress votes to immunize lawbreaking telecoms, legalize warrantless eavesdropping]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Both companies announced back in 06 that they did not supply the government with caller information. T-Mobile was a little more emphatic in its denial of participation in the government's spying program.
Remember, if you want guaranteed privacy, simply turning off your phone is useless.
Take the battery out of your cell phone. It is the only way to avoid holding a microphone for the government or its agents.

Nazi show trials
[Read the article: Salon Radio: ACLU at Gitmo]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]I still remember watching footage of the "trial" for the men who bombed Hitler's bunker. I was proud that my country had defeated such a regime.
Hitler had a film made of the men being hanged with piano wire.
I'll bet George already has the popcorn ready.

"Yo, bitch, you it"
[Read the article: What's missing from the Democratic convention?]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]NBC news said Palin was only told 24 hours ago she was the VP pick.
She wasn't asked, she was told.
That aught to resonate well.

LWM clears the air with mustard gas
[Read the article: Federal government involved in raids on protesters ]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]As far as I know, no one has been killed by the police yet in this crackdown at the R convention.
Bart, it's you isn't it?

Cargocult is carrying a load of BS
[Read the article: Sarah Palin and Mark Halperin's complaints of "liberal media"]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]It's OT but late enough.
If we did that, we could shut down every coal-fired power plant in the U.S., and maybe even stop importing oil as well.
And where are you going to get your fertilizer for this glorious (say ADM) food-to-fuel program?
The only real solution to our energy shortage is decades away at best. The demand for energy cannot bet met by solar, wind, etc. Coal is cheap and readily available in the US (We have more coal than anybody else does, by a considerable margin) and this nation cannot afford not to burn it. Nuclear fuels too are a must as they will provide about 1/3 of our energy needs for the next 50 years. Renewables might contribute another 25-30%. So coal picks up the rest, give or take.
You had better hope zero-emission coal plants are on-line by 2020 because if you think it's warm now...
The other solution is a drastic reduction in energy consumption. See, the End Times really are a good thing. What we need is a woman mayor for the city on the hill.
God's will is just that.

PS Zee righter,
Did I write good? Did I?

Poor little suzysunflower. That was one of the best smackdowns from Glenn in some time and it was well deserved. It happened once in Germany, little oil seed.

Flashback indeed
[Read the article: The government, the media and Afghanistan]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]"I would stand on my head in a corner if the president ordered me too" Ollie North, Iran-Contra hearings.
Nothing like a little blind obedience.

Doctrine Moctrine, It is God's Will
[Read the article: Where is the debate over the Bush Doctrine?]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]I bet Palin is in church right now, unlike George W Bush.
Who cares about Bush's Doctrine?
It is God's Doctrine that matters!
And no one can doubt that it is God's Will that we have a female candidate for the vice presidency.
God is still pissed we didn't nuke the Russians when we had the chance. Sarah can atone for that sin.
OK, now that we have established what really matters to the 30%ers, do any of the arguments here amount to anything?
The Puritans believed it was God's Will to have the Indians attack settlers in retaliation for failing to adequately honor him. How else could the savages kill God's image? He obviously wanted it to happen.
Sarah Palin is capable of inflicting immense harm while doing God's Will.

Muted Congress
[Read the article: The oversight joke]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]One sure fire way to keep Congress' nose out of things is to make them complicit (voluntarily or not) in the crimes being committed. Another way would be to use the information amassed through illegal surveillance to convince members it is in their best interest to move along.
My bet is both methods are fully employed by the Bush/Cheney cabal.

The Right Stomps and Cries
[Read the article: What does Sarah Palin have to hide in her Yahoo e-mails?]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Because that is all they can do. The issues of importance are non-starters for republicans. Here in Nevada the airwaves are saturated with political commercials as we are a swing state this time. Obama's adds are reasonable and watchable. When ANY GOPer add comes on, all you hear is Liberal this and Liberal that, with background images of Schumer and Reid fading in and out. Palin and McCain are labeled "the original mavericks" who will bring "change". That's it.
Two years ago there were a number of Young Republicans at the campus of the University of Nevada. This year, not a single republican sign or signature gatherer is present. Nothing. There are countless student supporters for Obama.
Not that I hold out much hope for improvement with Barack but at least it'll be better than speaking in tongues at Bible camp.
When the authorities determine Palin's email was hacked, then it is possible a crime was committed. Not having the brains to take simple precautions against someone else accessing your email ought to be grounds for exclusion from the White House.

God's Will
[Read the article: What does Sarah Palin have to hide in her Yahoo e-mails?]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]God has shown once again his great wisdom by allowing Sarah's emails to be read by others. You cannot deny the hand of God when it is so Palinly obvious.

God's Will
[Read the article: The Bush/McCain/Palin contempt for subpoenas and the rule of law]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]It's OK to ignore subpoenas if it is God's Will.
And who knows God's Will better than the Palin's!
Welcome back to the dark ages of priests and kings.

Flailing or Failing
[Read the article: McCain's flailing panic]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]I see a man who is slowly losing his mind to the ravages of Alzheimer's. His facial expressions expose the frustrations of someone who is aware they are no longer in control of their faculties. (I have a tenured prof who is dealing with similar issues.)
McCain is pitiful but I pity him as I would a rabid dog.
