Parenting Does Not Gurarantee a Sense of Fulfillment
[Read the article: I need a new dream]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]The LW may have idealized the kind of parent she would be, as well as having idealized the outcome.
We all plan to be and want to be great parents, but, in reality, many of us are not that great. Even if we are, there is no guarantee the child will turn out "right". Despite the best nature and nurture, sometimes the child turns out to be a bad person. The only fulfillment in that is knowing you did the best you could, which isn't much fulfillment.
It's easy to idealize what we can't have. For example, I often think of a past lover and I am sure if he hand't gotten away, I would be a much happier woman and had a much more fulfilled life - until I face the reality that he just wasn't that into me!
The LW is going to have to let this go, or her life will be truly wasted. There is much happiness to be had in life without procreation.

Impulsive Decisions
[Read the article: I'm living in filth!]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Everyone knows, deep down, that having more than one very small dog in an apartment is a bad idea. But, impulsive decisions are made sometimes to get more dogs because we want to get more love. And, the mess becomes overwhelming. Even if the LW replaces the carpet today, the dogs may well ruin it all over again. Other contributors have made the right suggestions on how to clean the carpet and keep it clean, and I doubt the LW has the heart to give away or farm out the dogs, but I would ask her to think about what may be wrong with her relationship that she needs to try to compensate with 3 dogs (in an apartment)? It isn't best for the dogs either!

Why Hillary Is So Dislked....
[Read the article: The GOP attack plan for Hillary Clinton]
[Read more letters about this article: Here].....has nothing to do with gender. She has run a sleazy campaign full of lies, distortions, and ridiculous rants. She will apparently do or say anything to get the nomination. She lacks integrity. We don't trust her. We have come to disbelieve whatever she says.
At this point, all we can believe is that winning is more important to her than the good of the party or the nation. I can only hope she willl continue to lose votes, delegates and credibility. Anyone this ruthless and reactive is a danger, not a leader.

Smoking and Barack Obama
[Read the article: Would you vote for a smoker?]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]I smoked for 35 years and quit 4 times. The 4th time was over 7 years ago. Thank heavens Nicorette gum got me through the months of intense nicotene craving until I finally made it. I commmend Obama for quitting and want to remind people that it is a very hard thing to do. I can't imagine trying to do so during this stressful time, so he deserves a double commendation! Quitting is a process - it doesn't happen all at once. Don't judge him because he was a smoker. Only judge those who aren't even trying to quit.

Limitless Possibilities
[Read the article: How I learned to stop worrying and love the recession]
[Read more letters about this article: Here],,,,didn't make me happy either. No matter what I have acquired, whether it's paid for by now or not (and a lot of it isn't),the stuff hasn't made me happier. And the catalogs just kept coming in, showing me how much I still really needed. I used to tell my daughter, when she was little and we really had a lot less, that there is a difference between "want" and "need. Since then, those lines have become blurry for me. In some ways it's good the pendulum is swinging back. Maybe I will get the stuff I have paid for.
Here's a good black bean soup recipe: After your beans have been soaked overnight, picked through and rinsed well, fry some bacon (at least half a pound)in a big soup pot. Eat the bacon but leave all the bacon grease in your pot. Saute a chopped onion in the bacon grease, then add the drained beans. Cover well with chicken stock, add a little salt, pepper and a couple of bay leaves. Bring to a boil, cover the pot, then simmer very slowly for a couple of hours. Watch carefully , stir, and add more chicken stock only if needed. Best to use unsalted stock. When beans are very tender, remove bay leaves, check the seasoning and add more salt if needed, then add 1/2 cup brandy and simmer awhile longer.

Los Angeles Times
[Read the article: Keith Olbermann apologizes for his Clinton remark]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Will it be considered "sexism" if HRC is the nominee and the Republicans gleefully let the Los Angeles Tims print the alleged sex scandal story they've been holding? Or, if that scandal is about HRC's alleged bisexuality, will it be just one more lie she's lived and passed off to the public? Just a theory and would be interested in your feedback.

Classic Baloney from a Cheating Man
[Read the article: My husband of 12 years suddenly says he never loved me]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]What he is saying is so predictable - it's what all men say when they are looking for excuses to get out of their marriages without actually admitting they are cheating. Good riddance to this bum. See a good lawyer and get every cent you can for yourself and the kids. You will be better off without this clown.
