Rush's new drug problem

It seems the brain is not the only part of Rush Limbaugh's anatomy that has ceased to function... Now, if only his mouth would fail, too.

I guess we can't call him a 'blowhard' any longer -- he simply blows. Clearly, 'hard' no longer applies.

Typical of this region

As a 20-year resident of the central PA region, these ill-informed voters are a sad fact of life here.

It never ceases to amaze me how willfully ignorant our neighbors can be. Their greatest fear is that someone might actually make them think about (and take responsibility for) the real problems facing our nation and not the false wedge issues about which they rant obsessively: God, guns, gays, etc.

What is encouraging, however, is that pockets of blue voters are appearing as the economic downturn hits home for formerly red voters. When your bank account is empty, it gets harder to ignore the reality of the failed Republican fiscal policies -- and people are beginning to understand that they've been voting against their own self-interests.

Having a plain-spoken, progressive and popular Governor (Ed Rendell) has helped wake up some voters, too. I'm fairly certain Pennsylvania will go for Obama on Tuesday, despite the McCain camp's huge following in many parts of the state.

Every day is scary in central PA

Give no quarter to radicals

As a gay voter who begrudgingly dropped my support for Hillary but later enthusiastically campaigned for Obama, I'd sort of hoped that Obama could at least get a few months as president under his belt before flipping off gay Americans. No such luck.

It begs the question: would Obama have invited an openly-racist minister to pray?

All this "bridging the divide" talk is nonsense that weakens us politically. When are big-tent Democrats going to realize that when you are the ONLY party willing to engage in conversation, there's no actual conversation happening?

Give no quarter to radical conservative viewpoints. Fight lies with truth. Get religion out of government. Stop trying to hug the smiling conservatives who will stab you in the back the moment they get an arm around you. They will do everything in their power to bring you down. Wise up!

Kudos to Tom Tomorrow

Tom Tomorrow deserves a lot of credit for so consistently and brilliantly summarizing what so many people have felt about the sheer awfulness of the Bush mis-administration, as well as the big media sleepwalkers who have lost the ability to think critically. Tom's work helped many people through the darkest days of the past 8 years, helping us to laugh a little when we really felt like crying. Keep up the great work, Tom -- and, thanks!

Consider yourself lucky

Although we hear only his side of the story, the writer has laid out a pretty convincing case for getting out now. He's fortunate to have known about his girlfriend's refusal to properly manage her mental health now, instead of finding out after being married and starting a family. Marriage doesn't solve existing problems, it only magnifies them. Recognizing this -- and acting now -- will help you prevent what might otherwise be many more years of pain. Good luck.
