Original article: Perspire to retire!

Perspire to retire, right

Now it is starting to show up as more and more boomers and more and more 30 somethings start to look at (save for)retirement - the biggest con and hoodwink ever perpetrated on the American working class - the "cash" based retirement plan. The corporations have made millions, and millions of former middle-class people will work till they die or be dependent on their kids, or live in hand to mouth conditions...... We are in uncharted waters. The country has never coped with millions of people retiring and living much much longer than my grandparents. Company pension plans allowed my parent's generation to retire with dignity. What does the future hold for the us? As many people look to retire in the next few years they see the equity in their homes swallowed up, the return on their 401K and other investments losing ground and the costs of sending our kids through college skyrocketing.

Original article: First lady got back

First Lady Got Back

This article bothered me on some level, I guess I am old fashioned enough to think that having an expose about the future First Lady's butt, regardless of size or color, is in poor taste, even if the author is trying to make some cultural observation. I hate to see Michelle depersonalized in this manner, that is, discussing a body part. Perhaps the "observation" about Michelle's buttocks not being discussed during the campaign is because to do so would have been properly criticized as sexism. Just because you are a black author does not give you the right to step over the line and serve Michelle up to make your point or because you personally have no problem discussing your butt in public. It is degrading to the person being so described regardless. And this type of talk is not acceptable in black or white polite society. Michelle is a lady - stop trying to ghetto her.

Protecting Abortion Providers

I think Ms Hill and others are FOOLS if they do not arm themselves. When that creep, aka "Molitov" came to her door, the unmistakeable sound of a shot gun being cocked for action might have sent HIM a message that you are not going to be sitting ducks. In fact, in Virgina, you can shoot someone who is treatening you on your property. Sad it has come to this, but self protection is permissible under the law, and since the authorities seem uninterested in getting involved, then citizens must protect themselves. Once a few perpetrators get what is coming to them, it might make the rest of the cowards think twice about intimidating and threatening people exercising their consitutional rights.

Let's focus on the REAL Criminals

Everybody!!! The purpose of the Supreme Court ruling on abortion as a "Right to Privacy" issues is just that. Irrespective of your personal beliefs, this is a personal choice that rightfully should be made by the woman and her docotor and any other important person in her life. The idea that any group has a moral high ground or knows best for all women is absurd. It is sad that the right wing politicains and televangelists have used this issue to get people riled up to the point of murder and focused on these issues while our futures have been bankrupted. Bill O'Reilly should be charged as an accessory to a hate crime. Let's start a campaign, shall we?

Health case Industry isn't going to play nice

First, I wish you would stop calling it the "Health Care SYSTEM". America does not have a health care system, we have a for-profit health care industry that seeks to make money on insurance, drugs, and other services. So until America is willing to demand a stop to this deadly form of capitalism, then nothing will change. John Edwards laid it out when he was running for President, his experiences as a trial lawyer sitting across the table from some health care institution informed him of their tactics. Do we really think they are going to be less aggressive when I comes to preserving their profits? America is in a terrible place. We have for years refused to acknowledge providing health care as a human right and a moral obligation and listened to the scare tactics from those who have everything to gain from it. And as it has evolved, health care costs are a major source of economic and personal ruin for many Americans, accounting for over half of the bankruptcies. Over 20,000 people DIE each year for lack of health coverage, but now many others are unaccounted for who suffer and deteriorate mentally and physically because of it? Those who "have" should hang their heads in shame for advocating the status quo. I have lived and gotten health care under the Australian system. The idea that someone would lose his home and life savings because of a catastrophic health care event is unimaginable for them. It should be unimaginable for us as well. As our population ages, we are increasingly held hostage by an avaricious health care industry whose only motive is profit, not the health and well-being of the American people.
