Paris Hilton is not a little girl. The statute of limitations on crying for your mommy when you get in trouble runs out well before your 26th birthday. She's not a scapegoat. She drove drunk, then got caught twice violating her probation by driving without a license. I'm sick of drunk drivers getting off until they kill somebody. Martha Stewart did her time with grace, and she didn't even wait until her appeals ran out. And she didn't put anybody in danger. It's too bad Ms. Hilton didn't choose to follow her example rather than that of Bush.

Life is not like this. Life has beginnings and endings. It's possible that Tony is dead, and that is why things went black. That doesn't resolve whether his family was killed or not. My husband commented that all of them were killed. That was his interpretation. I didn't think anybody was killed. Then I decided only Tony was. Then I realized that the writers couldn't decide how to end the show, so they decided to cop out and simply let us decide. They took the easy road and tried to pass it as art. But, like much of "modern" art, it isn't art, it's just a big practical joke on the public.

Sometimes when life hurts us we cope, but we don't heal properly, and the scars can come back to haunt us in strange ways. There is a reason that you are doing this self-destructive thing, and it would be a good idea to talk to somebody about it. If you can pay the bills, great... but I suspect that if it were that simple you would have simply paid them instead of writing about it. Those bills mean something to you. A connection to the past? A fear of debt? Some esoteric memory that haunts you? It could be anything, but the only way to really sort it out is to find a qualified professional to help you.

Meanwhile, perhaps you could explain your problem to your husband and ask him for help in dealing with this. Or you could contact a lawyer to act as your intermediary. It's important that your bills get paid - important to your credit and even more important to your sense of responsibility. Ultimately, you should end up at least participating in the payments, just to get this out of your system. But not dealing with things causes them to pop out in unexpected ways. Please take some time to find out why you are hurting yourself financially.

So... he got his revenge on us for making him incredibly rich by purchasing HBO so that we could watch his show. I was thinking of watching this new show they have out - the one about the surfer. I think I'm going to skip it, though. I'm not really interested in having my mind messed with by somebody who doesn't care enough about the audience to make hard decisions, but would rather play games. It's funny, because I usually limit my television viewing to history, science, and cooking shows. I don't usually get involved in series. Now I know why.

Finally, the courts are saying "enough". I know... these people are "terrorists" and they will endanger our nation. But back when the constitution was written, the people who wrote it felt that it was more important to secure liberty than to secure perfect safety for our people. They were smart men, and I trust their judgement more than I trust the judgement of the current administration.

I was reading a comment the other day about the young woman who was kidnapped and murdered in Kansas last week. A man (I presume) made a comment that she shoudln't have been wearing shorts and a tank top, because it brougth unwanted attention to herself. A lot of people attacked him for the comment, but, surprisingly, a woman backed him up, saying that her 3 daughters weren't allowed to dress that way because they would draw undesired attention.

I think we do this so that we can feel safe. If the victim did something to bring on their attack, then we can simply not do that something and we will not be attacked. It doesn't work, of course, because life is not that simple. People get mugged even when they aren't flashing expensive watches. Women get raped even if they aren't young and beautiful and wearing skimpy clothing, or drunk, or in a bad neighborhood. And spouses get battered even if they are totally innocent of any wrongdoing. But if we pretend that they must be doing something to deserve it, then we know that we must be safe - because we'd never do anything to deserve being beaten.

I knew when we won Congress that we wouldn't have enough of a majority to do much, but a surprising number of people seem to think that a bare majority is enough to work wonders. Hopefully, this will show people that even in simple matters, a slim majority is not always enough to win.
