[Read more letters about this article: Here]I really like your writing, especially this article. My own great grandmother had no use for President Abraham Lincoln. She said that here she was, a property owning woman but she could not vote but Lincoln had set it up so a black man who could note write his name could vote.
And where was this property? It had been in the family since the 18th century. It is immediately behind the Harris Mansion in Harrisburg. The Harris Mansion is the home of the Dauphin County Historical Society. The family had an inn there, which must have catered to the people crossing the Susquehanna River on the Harris Ferry. At very low water, the Susquehanna can be forded there. It has been a crossing for thousands of years.

[Read more letters about this article: Here]This is what it must be. The results of Global Warming are quite unknown. If it stops the ocean currents like the Gulf Stream it is even possible to trigger a new Ice Age in five years. Or the climate could just get hotter and drier. No one really knows.
Overpopulation is at the core of this. Only China is tackling that.
I own acreage (20 extra) right at the heart of North America's maximum solar insolation. It should be covered with power cells but under the present politics, it is not feasible.

[Read more letters about this article: Here]I had gone to the annual meeting of the League of California Cities. As I usually did, I sat in the front row at the end where I had a good view of the stage or could turn and see the audience.
Mondale came on stage and wanted to shake hands with the front row. I just stood there and Mondale sure gave me a funny look.

[Read more letters about this article: Here]The writer came up with a rather negative idea probably inspired by the Governor of New York. The negative song SOS fits quite well. I wanted a positive look. Take a Chance on Me is certainly positive and has a snappy tune that sticks in people's heads. I have long felt that Take a Chance on Me would be a good theme song for the Obama campaign.
The Hillary campaign can have SOS. Bill Clinton became president because he is a clever campaigner and the first President Bush made some serious mistakes.
Right at the end of the Clinton Presidency, he made a mistake which cost Al Gore the election. Clinton's Attorney General sent a military type squad to violently seize Elian Gonzales and sent the child back to Fidel Castro. All of the Cuban-Americans in Florida voted for Bush and given the tightness of the election that was enough to torpedo Al Gore.
What should have been a relatively minor event threw the election. It also made the TV media look stupid.
Do you remember Clinton's Attorney Janet Reno? Saturday Night Live had a lot of fun with her. She always entered by smashing through a wooden panel. Her worst mistake was the carnage at Waco, Texas. She was Clinton's third choice for the position. He wanted her which was his big mistake.

[Read more letters about this article: Here]For many years, I attended church at a military chapel. Chaplains were cycled through. Some had grand sermons, some were useless or worse. In a church service, the sermon can be a high point but often is a low point. One goes for the rest of the service and the Christian fellowship.
As for New Orleans, the problem is a 90 year old real estate development of land below sea level. It's really not much different than the current subprime loan mess. Many people who want to own their home do not understand the complexities involved.
Why are you living below sea level? The real estate agent said it was safe. Of course, he got his commission and left.
