  • Who cares ?

[Read the article: A new low in Clinton bashing]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

Who cares ? It's all over. Hillary is on the way out. No need to lambast her but you are right there is way too much of it.

Hillary grates on many people. She has this odd habit of nodding her head when she says something. I find that very annoying but it is not worth getting upset about. It is a habit of aggressive people trying to push their opinion.

This is far from the first nasty election. The election of 1800 was real nasty,

There have been many more. These people are all politicians.

  • Abrasive

[Read the article: A new low in Clinton bashing]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

Hillary is obnoxious and abrasive. Use of vulgar terms just reveals the character of the poster.

  • Madam President

[Read the article: Still waiting for Madam President ]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

I have no objection to a lady president. But not this one. She's no lady.

  • Population control

[Read the article: Hope in the midst of Chinese pollution?]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

China maintains the fiction of being Communist, meaning that it's sort of a dictatorship. That enables them to limit their population by unpopular means.

Perhaps we should go knock off Mexico and give it to China.

  • Battle of the sexes

[Read the article: Ferraro wants study on sexism, racism in campaign]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

This will never end, too much fraternization with the enemy.

  • Flag Pin

    [Read the article: Opus]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

Well, Sen Obama has one now. A veteran gave it to him and he wears it.

Hillary just wears a pants suit, no pin. The pin does not really matter.

It's clear now that Obama will be the Democrat party nominee. I wish him well. I'm a moderate Republican but Obama is someone new and hopefully a fresh look in a troubled world

    [Read the article: Opus]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

He's quite correct. The flag is not meant to be worn nor is it to be flown at night. The only places to fly it at night are over the US Capitol and the grave of Francis Scott Key.

The rest of it is just using the flag for advertising.

Our nearby Navy base does it right but besides the military few people do.

  • The Prize

[Read the article: This Modern World]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

Read "The Prize" by Daniel Yergin (1991). It tells the story and predicts the present situation.

In addition to that, in about 3 years, China will use as much oil as the USA. In about 20 years, China will use twice as much as we do.

Since there is not that much oil, the price will have to rise enough to prevent this.

  • Race, etc

[Read the article: What role did race play with white Democrats?]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

There are a number of things about this. Bill Clinton got in because he is a clever campaigner.

David Brinkley was disgusted because Clinton would not explain himself. He finally did immediately after the Super Bowl when there was a huge audience. Also his predecessor made some dumb mistakes, "Read my lips, no new taxes" but went for a real stupid tax.

The economy went well, President Clinton floated up on the DotCom boom.

Sen Obama is indeed elite. That's what I want, someone smarter that me. He has drawn people like Caroline Kennedy and Julie Nixon Eisenhower. He put together a much better campaign staff than Sen Hillary did.

Hillary Clinton is abrasive. She rubs many people the wrong way. She has the odd habit of nodding her head yes to enforce her point. It is a habit of aggressive abrasive people.

President Clinton shot a lot of cruise missiles into abandoned Al Qaeda camps. President Obama will go talk to Iran. That's how President-elect Eisenhower ended the fighting in Korea. Talk is better than cruise missiles.

Sen McCain seems to be fumbling.

I would have liked to have seen a spousal debate. I suspect that Michelle Obama would really chew up Bill Clinton. She is one smart cookie.

  • None of the above?

[Read the article: Who will Obama choose as veep? Nope, you're wrong]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

That's why it will be Michael Bloomberg.

  • eBay

    [Read the article: Opus]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

Go to eBay. Their site is usually messed up but there sure is a lot of stuff to buy.

Lots of Blue Amberols for sale.

Someone even suggested Meg Whitman for Obama's VP.

  • Hillary Exit

[Read the article: Hillary's final curtain ]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

The one comment I hear over and over is:

Lady president, fine but not this one.

    She is just too irritating.

She lost because of the many staffing mistakes she made. Obama made very few. Campaign manager David Plouffe and strategist David Axelrod were far better that Hillary's several managers.

Sen Obama chose well. A president must choose well and Hillary's choices boded ill for a president.

There is no guarantee that Obama will choose well for his cabinet but there seemed to be a guarantee that Hillary would choose poorly.

  • consumption

[Read the article: Battle of the skyscrapers]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

This is just conspicuous consumption. It's a lot of foolishness.

  • Michael Bloomberg

[Read the article: Discussion of potential Obama running mates heats up]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

Michael Bloomberg also gets mentioned. He'd be a good choice.

  • @ Greeneyedkzin

[Read the article: Michelle Obama, fashionista]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

Turnip is probably right but it would be more polite not to ay that.

To me, the important thing about Michelle Obama is what is between her ears. She is a genius.

  • Which lady ?

[Read the article: Quote of the day]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

    I don't like Katie Couric.

    I can't stand Hillary Clinton.

I really like Ann Curry. I'd always watch her on the news if she was on regularly.

  • The Sideshow.

[Read the article: Coming to a Kabuki theater near you -- the search for a vice president]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

As near as I can tell, Mayor Mike Bloomberg thinks much like Obama. No hard and fast partisanship. If that is who he wants, go for it.

Someone to get along with for four years.

Better than Cheney or Quayle. Would collect all the Jewish votes.

  • Lefties

    [Read the article: Opus]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

Both McCain and Obama are left handed.

  • Fowl-Breathed

    [Read the article: Opus]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

A pun and his own name. A Penguin is not a fowl. Those are chickens and the like A fowl is a gallinaceous bird.

Of course, penguins don't have little hands on their wingtips.

Opus is a clever flight of fancy. Something like a Hobbit.

As for my satellite connection, it cuts out randomly. I do not know the cause. Fringe area, overload, poor installation ???

I'd guess that the Democrats are more likely to want to raise the USA from #15 in the world for internet access.

Republicans are more likely to sit and wait for market conditions.

  • Muslims

[Read the article: Volunteers blocked Muslims from being seen with Obama]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

The decision to refuse to let Muslim headscarves behind Obama was correct. That could cost him the election after the Republicans got the images.

Those women need to understand that they represent an alien concept in the US. We tolerate it but it should not be allowed to control our elections.
