excuse me -

if - if I first would like to excuse myself - because a few days ago I wrote something very very stupid - I suggested that writers on this blog and perhaps even Glenn were not as principled as their very strong and forceful language always is suggesting and I rightly deserved to be ridiculed by two of the most principled writers on UT - Heru and Derbig Mooser and especially the rubdown by Derbig really hurt, because I always held him in the highest esteem and the only way I can excuse myself is by my uncle Greg (a nasty Clint Eastwood type) who after 911 wanted to do unspeakable things to the poor ‘Arabs’ and nowadays he wants to do unspeakable things to the people, who did unspeakable things to the poor Arabs and I really wanted to yell at HIM but instead I tried to payback Glenn because he pi… me of by critizising my preference for ‘harmony’ and being too much a fan of Obama (and that really hurt too) But now I know Glenn is Right, and I think Obama only got me with this sappy Grandma story, (remember the one he wouldn’t disown) and I (than) had to think about Uncle Fred (who still gets invited to my birthdays) and now I realize that I always was too eager to escape confrontation, divisions, and angry disputes and I only could do so by renouncing any actual political principles, and I realize this never will be in whatever conceivable sense being "new"? Even for those who are convinced this works, isn't this exactly how Uncle Fred got in trouble: His newly harmonious approach may be many things, but the one thing it seems not to be is "new." And I promise Glenn - from now on if someone is going to be angered and feel alienated it will be me because you are right I should not be so eager to escape confrontation, divisions, and angry disputes Because of the very nature of politics -- to say nothing of the nature of the contemporary American Right -- politics is highly unlikely to exist without angry, often ugly, conflicts of that sort - and it always was!

Right?

Saturday, December 20, 2008 05:22 AM

shalom to you too - zwrite! -

I am one of this 'harmony paeans' Glenn loves to write about and I have tried very hard in the last six month to proselytize the 'Stalinists' and 'Crypto Communists' on this blog but somehow the 'not angry' approach didn't work very well and you might do a much better job - and perhaps you also could pay some attention to the 'anarchistic fraction' (sinnardadnotoheru) - because I think Glenn isn't as much as a problem as you think he is - because his anger and his being feeling alienated might be more of a professional conviction because who writes letters to a harmonius dude - and sorry Glenn I really took your advice and tried very hard not to escape confrontation, divisions, and angry disputes but if I get angry everybody just laughs at me and so I have to tell you I really love you - and keep on fighting the good fight!
