and just as a reminder -

for all the definition artists there is some kind of clear definition of ideology -

1. The body of ideas reflecting the social needs and aspirations of an individual, group, class, or culture.

- that opens a lot of possibilities -

BUT -

2. A set of doctrines or beliefs that form the basis of a political, economic, or other system.

- Isn't that what are we talking about - Mr. Greenspan?!

majo - that's fun -

when I think of ideology - in exactly that order

Neocons

Republicans

Fox

Bush

the Bush years

and Ideology sucks

Monday, November 24, 2008 01:56 PM

and I know -

it's not brilliant reasoning - but it beats the question: Is one more important than the other.

Monday, November 24, 2008 02:00 PM

or could we just agree -

that the Bush years gave 'Ideology' a bad rep and now all the 'good Ideologen' like Glenn have to suffer?

Monday, November 24, 2008 02:06 PM

and just last week -

my ethic prof told me never to argue with an Ideologen before you haven't discussed the base for his Ideology and if you got an 'religious one' you better retreat (these Jesuiten Zoeglinge are develish)

Monday, November 24, 2008 02:22 PM

on a second thought -

there are no 'good Ideologen' - Do you gals and guys realize that in ever major language

the accusation 'du Ideologe'! borders on an insult!

Monday, November 24, 2008 03:56 PM

isn't it time now-

to throw the 'either'-'or' overboard - I always thought that only a guy like Thrasher could come up with such a black or white concept - Alone the question - 'Is one more important than the other' is a 'Zumutung' - You must have realized by now that the 'Fans' of a Person who is black and white at the same time might be able to think two ways at the same time (like showing McCain how you do two things at the same time) So - Hey - it might be a lot less Ideology and a little bit more pragmatism - but I doubt it even exist in Obamas mind because it is much to restrictive and you can not portion it out like Icecream and don't fall for the answers you get from Ideologists that work for Obama - They often try to give you a simple answer (like Obama is a Pragnmatist) because his reality is so amazingly NOT BLACK and WHITE!

i reject -

this Ideology too!

each time -

I talk to somebody about how disgusted I am about Torture and that the major reason why I am a 'fan' of Obama was his promise to put an end to this disgrace. Most of the people I talk to agree wholeheartedly, because I always made - and make a 'moral' statement and avoid a so called 'legal dispute' like the Pest.

First of all I am not a lawyer and second - and much more important - LAWYERS managed to redefine "Torture" as something like "enhanced interrogation techniques'.

This is got to stop! -

And it is not going to stop if you keep on treating it mainly like a 'legal problem', where the lawyers of the other side just have to agree with our reading of 'the rule of law'.

It never happens!

Wait - It ONLY happens - IF there is a change of power and politics.

(and I think you are ALL very well aware of that)

Until then 'the media' cowardly waits for the new reading of 'the rule of law' and keeps repeating statements like:'waterboarding which critics call torture."

So please!! A lot more MORAL OUTRAGE (it really works) - and a little bit less of this always changing 'rule of law' -

'Put it in your pipe and smoke it' (like a famous crimimal once said) - or put it on you tube

to make fun of 'a concept' America historically always ignored whenever it was convenient.

It's not premature at all -

to criticize Obama for his 'establishment-soothing appointments' because this is what he did -

But it's also not premature to heap praise on him - not about the appointments at all - but for

his excellent 'Preshow': the great and promising press conferences and these funny parades of ex Washington sleazeballs who promise to be good boys and girls in the future.

It gives us a lot of hope - and if the economy wouldn't be as grim the accompanying harping from the so called left and right would be quite amusing.

sleeeaze -

'Washington has been corrupt and imperialistic for quite some time. But the extreme combination of and power abuses are the hallmark of the Bush administration'.

Yeah - but what's about our 'hero' Andrew? (Jackson) - Bush might get first prize for historically worst President but about 'limitless ineptitude' I would vote for Jackson.

ramon -

and then he is going to fire them!

Wednesday, December 3, 2008 08:42 AM

but it would make life so much easier -

if we would know our politicians right away by their names - Like if it's a 'Clinton' it can not be

an honest plumber and if it's a Bush it can not be a surgeon - like in good old Europe where you can identify whole professions by their names - because that's where this madness started that the son (brother, cousin, nephew) of a doctor, lawyer, plumber tried to pick the same job as his father - and I always understood why the son of a plumber or a doctor or a Hollywood producer would try to pick his father's job- but to become a 'politician'? Isn't that still one of most despised job on this planet? - Just right after being a lawyer?!

Wednesday, December 3, 2008 08:50 AM

and on a more serious note -

kudos to sysprog but you still can become president of this country out of nowhere (Hawaii)

Wednesday, December 3, 2008 08:55 AM

or -

couldn't we try to break up the nepotism in Hollywood that would be much more entertaining -

Politicians are soo boring (besides Obama and Wild Bill)

Wednesday, December 3, 2008 09:00 AM

Jack is right -

we have to break up the nepotism of the money men - Politicians are just their slaves. Right?
