a bad name -

'Man... the birthers™ and the keithers® are giving the truthers© a bad name.

I honestly don't think so Tito and I also from time to time like to put on my war paint and my

ghost shirt and then I go out and get myself some 'skalps' - but I have this good old Paiute

policy that I never touch anybody of my own tribe and I can understand some who do it -

'in the heat of passion' - but I don't respect that very much!

Wednesday, August 5, 2009 05:49 AM

hey -

even in a small University in Konstanz some held a 'Schweigeminute' when Cronkite died and I'm kind of a minicelebrity because my dad knew him!

Wednesday, August 5, 2009 05:42 AM

che -

I'm sorry - but it's always the image of celebrity (not 'fandom' - Uuh what a nasty word) -which leaves the strongest impression -

That's one of the major reasons why the majority of the journalists at my University want to become 'independent' and very 'objective' journalists!

Wednesday, August 5, 2009 05:25 AM

well Che -

It's really easy to understand where the idea comes from, that corporate media employees are somehow "independent", and that the news they present is somehow not subject to the control and manipulation of their corporate employers.

The Truth about corporate media and the talent they put on the air or publish has been thoroughly hashed over for generations; from the early American journalistic heroes to Cronkite to Jon Stewart and Colbert-Fine movies have been made about it, television shows, novels that delve deeply into it (and into the opposite - you believe in) -

And that's how it is sustained?

Wednesday, August 5, 2009 05:15 AM

thank's Augo -

I didn't want to bring up something like the German TAZ - (even there was a hint of co-operation) - but as you mentioned it - that's one of the points that 'irks' me - the TAZ

always attacks the 'political enemy' first (Fox and O Reilly) - there is a little lack of 'solidarity'

in my homeland...

Wednesday, August 5, 2009 04:48 AM

and the only mystery that's left -

was BO one of the players or just another figure on the chess board?

Wednesday, August 5, 2009 04:37 AM

so the 'Olbermann affair' -

probably was just a concentrated effort of some clever chess-players to show the cop-orates

what's what!

And I'm truly impressed - how well some play this game who even deny it's existence!

Wednesday, August 5, 2009 04:26 AM

fahrender -

"the whole affair is nonetheless really "par for the course". similar documented cases have happened for more than a hundred years, that of corporate interests censoring what their employees serve up'.

But now not every employee has to serve up anymore - Olbermann might be a bad example

because he is a clown but it probably would have been impossible to silence Walter Cronkite

- and don't even try it with Jon Stewart or Oprah!

Wednesday, August 5, 2009 03:55 AM

the only point who should be corrected -

'Some people seem incapable of understanding the significance here. Because it's really complicated - and it's for sure about a major breach of journalistic freedom -- But NOTHING

is more relevant to the discussion than whether one "likes" Keith Olbermann or enjoys watching him on the TV. That only would be irrelevant if the topic were:O Reilly and "FOX breach of journalistic freedom" - But that's not the topic being discussed here. I suppose one could say (as amazingly nobody is arguing in Comments) - that if you have the chance to choose between a critic of Olbermann or O Reilly - you very well could concentrate on covering the story in a way that it might reflect poorly on someone who hasn't the same political views as you do -

ja - (thought) --- paul ---

"This seems to happen when something seriously challenges our fundamental understanding of the world. If it's something apparently passive, like some weird objects floating out on the water, we can sometimes imagine it's not even there'.

Like dead fish?

Wednesday, August 5, 2009 12:41 AM

and papa finally understands -

'The truth causes so much discomfort that the message is not only disbelieved, but the messengers are attacked, blamed, or punished'.

Wednesday, August 5, 2009 12:33 AM

'Keith Olberman is a very minor player in this'.

yeah - could we please go back to the co-operations who rule the roost - like Oprah and Jon Stewart!

Tuesday, August 4, 2009 11:46 PM

erwache und lache part 3-

Keithers??! - You mean I can go back to: - "long live the freak shows - But only if the top Clown Bill is forced to present HIS news while a 200 pound female wrestler sits on his face - and Olbermann - I love Olbermann - and I really would like to see him read HIS news with a bare chest (after getting rid of all body hair) - yeah that would be greatI-

And just delete everything else I posted in between!

Tuesday, August 4, 2009 05:58 PM

Tuesday, August 4, 2009 05:20 PM

this whole conversation -

is better than 11 dimensional chess!

Tuesday, August 4, 2009 05:14 PM

I LOVE KEITH TOO!! -

- could you just ask him Glenn - to put me once into his 'worst person lineup' - It must not be THE WORST - I would be satisfied with No 3!

Tuesday, August 4, 2009 05:01 PM

papa boule - No you don't have it 'right' -

'Olbermann gave a passionate, convincing, technically truthful denial that he was ever censored or ordered to lay off O'Reilly. And that he did. He followed it up with a "Worst Persons" attack on O'Reilly and Murdoch, as he had the liberty to do that all along, and that he had just personally chosen not to.

And the ones with egg dripping from their faces were- a journalist because he didn't quote

the person he was writing about - another clown who had to shut up - and his boss!

Everything else is speculating - and Glenn doesn't like that!

Tuesday, August 4, 2009 04:42 PM

and actually I thought it was pretty clever -

from the "Talents" of NBC to motivate the troops outside - to join in - and we should celebrate

this concentrated effort because it seems to work.

Tuesday, August 4, 2009 04:35 PM

and what does UT want? -

here we have on obvious victory over the 'Big and bad Coperatemachine'! - and you guys are

still howling?!!

Tuesday, August 4, 2009 04:31 PM

and independent - cut it out -

Olbermann is a 'clown' - But OUR clown!!

Tuesday, August 4, 2009 04:27 PM

and jamesbond - as you must know -

(from your Majesty) - it's always the 'ultimate' result that counts!!
