- you read this on Sunday morning and you feel sick right away and hardly don’t know what to say.
Second you read Jebbies post and you have to smile a little.
Third you read Adnotos response and you want to sent him right away to St.Paul to fight the evildoers. Then suddenly there is Heru again complaining about the comedians on the thread and you start to cry – But then you read LWM’s post - that it just looks like a drug raid and you remember the time you were traveling with your uncle (who looks like the stereotypical drug dealer – rastas and all) and you remember all the curious policemen (even some ‘black’ ones) and you think perhaps the Police just mistook the house for a marihuana farm – But then you read LWM’s second post and you realize - that showing others the peace sign might (still) be a very dangerous proposition in America - because my dad always gets on everybodies nerve how dangerous it was in the 70th to use the peace sign – and you think why should these guys have it easier than your own dad and then you feel bad that you are such an egocentric idiot and then you start thinking long and hard about your homeland and how after 911 your Grandfather saw terrorists lurking behind every Bush and you think why do have your fellow country men always have to go to these extremes and you forsee another shouting match between your grandfather who will yell these anarchist have deserved it and another guy I will not name talking about Police State etc. and then you have to walk into the den and throw a Jon Stewart into the CD player because there is no comic relief on the UT thread and you don’t want to cry all day!
thanks god for the missing toilet and i did my duty - i converted at least 9 Republicans to vote for Obama.
they could print t-shirts for these policemen - I WENT TO A RAID AND ALL I GOT WAS A BUCKET OF PEE!
somebody wrote:
'We are ALL hostages in this country. We are hostages of an insane and violent regime (and the enabler American population) hellbent on placing fear into all of us who have consciences and hearts'
I don’t think so!
Another one wrote:
May demons (with all the compassion of a swat team member) torture them for millions of years.
O please not - it sounds just like 'Bushtalk'.
and -
'I have known a lot of police people (a lot of policewomen in the lot) and almost all are not worth the air they consume."
- And i know some, who are actually worth a lot more, than this writer - and Pedinska please don’t take me wrong - i really feel with you and there has been causes of Police brutality against my family too - but I never will be able to bring myself to some of the conclusions that are displayed here. I also never thought I would agree with omex - but everybody who calls America a Police State is a true idiot of Bushs caliber and she or he
should take a vacation in Egypt or China.
It is also one of the most stupid rhetorical trick to ask somebody :Do you really think it is OK for the police to bust down your door and arrest you and your chamber pot because they heard you might be going to demonstrate without a permit? Do you really mean that?
Dooo - No! Nobody means that!
What LWM perhaps mend – and what he stated over and over again – that it would be very sad if this side would turn into one of these pathetic meeting places - where idiots
(this time sadly on the so called left) mumble day and night about 'Fascism' and the Police State and recycle every conspiracy theory they can think about - and thus make decent and reasonable Humas who read this blog look like fools too!
As for the "police state" issues -
If you have lived in different countries you might know, that being American means to be exposed to a lot of stupid stereotypes and generalizations (you have no culture - no heritage - you are arrogant and ignorant) - and occasionally you also run into an idiot
(the last one was a French one) who tells you America is a ‘Police state’ - because – he got fingerprinted entering the US.
Now this argument is very tempting (you normally only get fingerprinted at the Police right) BUT if you are learning together with students from a lot of different countries you don’t use this ‘vocabulary’ and you can not tell them ‘its better to rouse the populace early than late’ – because you might encounter a furious teacher who will tell you exactly what a ‘Police state’ is - and what it is not! And if you are idiotic enough to keep on going and try to dispute it - you might end up like Patrice, who had a very hard time to be ‘believed’ again after he made a total fool out of himself.
And I know this is not a good example because you were talking just about ‘tactics’ - but some people have no use for these type of ‘tactics’ and they find out right away that you are just using ‘tactics’ and they going to hate you for it as they hated some others who used a lot of ‘tactics’. BUT I really loved your Kevlar story -and if you would only tell this story as an example for what is going on in the homeland my friends would understand and believe you much better - so even your 'tactics' suddenly might work.
