- was this wonderful speech from a guy named Brooks -
My fellow Americans, it is an honor to address you at this defining moment in history. We stand at a crossroads at a pivot point, near a fork in the road on the edge of a precipice in the midst of the most consequential election since Bush ruined this country. One path before us leads to the past, to John McCain and the extinction of the human race. The other path leads to the future, when all the old white men who tried to destroy America will be dead. We must choose wisely. We must close the book on the bleeding wounds of the old politics of division. For this election isn't about the past or the present, or even the pluperfect conditional. It's about the future, and Barack Obama and John MCCain a man, who loves the past because that's where all his accomplishments are. We meet today to pass the torch to a new generation of Americans, a generation that came of age amidst idiotic pundits and politics, a generation with a historical memory, that will remember every single war-crazed Republican forever .We meet today to heal the divisions that have torn this country. For we are all one country and one American family, whether we are caring and thoughtful Democrats or hate-filled Republicans. We must bring together left and right, and Mel Brooks and Jon Stewart and Michael Moore. Ladies and gentleman, I never expected to be speaking before you today. Like so many of our speakers at this convention, I come from a hard-working, middle-class family. I was leading a great life until the Republicans wrecked it. When I was young, I was temporarily paralyzed by the stupidity of my own President, but I never gave up my dream: the dream of seeing Democrats showing America that they not only have cute daughters but also a brain. We heard from Joe Biden and we got to know Barack and Michelle Obama, who feel compassion for their fellow citizens. We know that Barack could have gone to a prestigious law firm, unlike Bush , but he chose to put his ego aside to become President of the United States and redeemer of the Bush years. We heard about his time as a community organizer. We were inspired by dozens of Democratic senators who were honorable enough to honor John McCain history as a prisoner of war before denouncing him as a reactionary opportunist who would destroy the country. No, this country cannot afford to elect John Bushmccain. Under Republican rule, they have stripped the land of every hope and honor and we must ride back to the uplands of hope! For as Barack Obama suggested he'll be there! God bless the Democrats and America.
- oh and i had to edit it a little bit!
- you read this on Sunday morning and you feel sick right away and hardly don’t know what to say.
Second you read Jebbies post and you have to smile a little.
Third you read Adnotos response and you want to sent him right away to St.Paul to fight the evildoers. Then suddenly there is Heru again complaining about the comedians on the thread and you start to cry – But then you read LWM’s post - that it just looks like a drug raid and you remember the time you were traveling with your uncle (who looks like the stereotypical drug dealer – rastas and all) and you remember all the curious policemen (even some ‘black’ ones) and you think perhaps the Police just mistook the house for a marihuana farm – But then you read LWM’s second post and you realize - that showing others the peace sign might (still) be a very dangerous proposition in America - because my dad always gets on everybodies nerve how dangerous it was in the 70th to use the peace sign – and you think why should these guys have it easier than your own dad and then you feel bad that you are such an egocentric idiot and then you start thinking long and hard about your homeland and how after 911 your Grandfather saw terrorists lurking behind every Bush and you think why do have your fellow country men always have to go to these extremes and you forsee another shouting match between your grandfather who will yell these anarchist have deserved it and another guy I will not name talking about Police State etc. and then you have to walk into the den and throw a Jon Stewart into the CD player because there is no comic relief on the UT thread and you don’t want to cry all day!
