dear Joan

Dear Joan,

we all know what you think. And I also think the biggest divide in this race is generational but that doesn't worry me

at all. We can argue for a long time about the battles you are referring us to, and Lord knows we all love to get past the specious battles, most of which have been forced on us.

But I think in an interview with a conservative newspaper, Obama spoke in a way which was hard to misunderstand. But some people like to do that. There's an art doing it in a way that doesn't turn off part of your base, but you are not quite

there yet.

I was marching in the 60s and I liked very much what Obama had to say.

Anyone claiming you are attacking Michelle Obama should read your wonderful words about "Good for her, out there defending her husband"! - Or - "I like her" and afterwards visit a writers workshop about subtext - uuuh -

Let's beg Michelle and the Obama campaign will not fall for playing the say one thing doing the other...

And Thrasher really was getting a little bit out of control, but if he finally realizes that Obama is "white" everything will be cool again!

why o why

Why does nobody in the MSM or on this blog question the automatism which makes Obama an "African American"?

Isn't that truly racist??

Saturday, January 26, 2008 01:33 PM

rebeca really?

Really?

But in our family the mother always came first and as

we are talking about race would it be okay to call him

a "White-African-American??

this is insane

Rebecalouise writes:As the son of an African father and an American mother Obama is truly an African-American and he himself "identifies" with this"label".

Did he do that after he was "identified" by the government?

Did he do it after his mother had to "label him in Kenya or the US - or was it just done in school by other kids?

There is nothing more racist than the believe, that the son of a white mother and a black father automatically is "black" or "African-American".

And with Obama there was a chance for us to finally realize what MLK had fought for - but we blew it.

I go to bed and I get up - and there are still all these letters from the machinists of politics.

Obama has "won" - the MSM is counting "black" and "white votes" and a Salonista called thrasher get's all excited -

Calm down "man" I'm "white" and my man has won too!!

Half of the year I live in Europe and when Obama decided to run a European friend (also "black and white") asked me, if the "one drop rule" in America was finally a thing of the past - And he wanted to know, if Obama could teach the world, by being "black" and "white" at the same time - a better understanding of "the other side" in race and in politics.

Because "Whites" and "Blacks" are truly equal -

Right?!!

I tried it with irony - I tried it with reason - ("there is nothing more racist than the believe, that the son of a "white" mother and a "black" father is automatically "black") - and all I got from Salon was one speculative and manipulative theory after the other. You guys helped to put Obama in a corner where he doesn't belong.

So it's time to finish my lat letter on this blog and move on -

Original article: Multiracial man

thanks guys

I promised not to write any more letters on this blog because I was disgusted with Salons help to put Obama into the "black corner".

There are a lot of "good souls" on this thread, who - without any racial or gender preferences - are just looking for the "right" and most experienced candidate.

That's precisely the point!

I tried to get to it - by provoking that Obama actually is "white" and that the "one drop rule", who would make him black is purely racist - but there hardly was any reaction -

And then finally somebody writes about it - but in such an uninspiered way, that it again all comes down to politics and satisfying the "white" or the "black" base.

Geezer2 writes: Parsing the mix in this country is a mug game let it go - but I have learned, that so called "mutliracial people" are often much more "open" and "tolerant" about the "other side"- than average "pure white" or "black folks".

And it is Obama, who seems to be able to transforme such a quality into his politics. He finally understands, that being a "pure liberal or "pure conservative" might be part of the problem and not the right way to solve, what we are facing.
