I wondered when I first saw an Obama Girl video (on MSNBC) if she weren't a Clinton plant. I still wonder, but in my "demographic", I may be all wet.

Were I Obama, I'd ask her to stop. If she didn't, I'd know it was sabotage...

I'm a 72 year-old "white guy" and my wife is a 71 year-old "white gal". We are the parents of four and grandparents of eight. Three of our grandchildren are adopted, bi-racial, two being Barack Obama's color, one Gov. Richardson's. We love them as our own.

We are, most would say, "typical white people" who have grown up, and old, in a predominately white small-town Wisconsin culture. In discussions about racial matters, my wife has told me that were she to meet black men on the street at night she would be more afraid than if they were white men. I suspect that this fear would be common to most women of her generation in our town, and in much of the country similar to our experience. My wife is not a racist. She does hold, as do I, racial stereotypes that are not too far below the surface. Acknowledging those stereotypes may be difficult but it surely can be liberating.

Senator Obama DID NOT SAY that his grandmother was racist. I believe she is, as are we, typical of persons in our "demographic" who hold these racial, and other, stereotypes.

No, not just because their lips are moving. You know that they're lying when what thay say causes people to be fearful. That's been their game from the beginning and a majority bought it. To paraphrase FDR: "They have nothing to fear but the fact that less and less Americans are listening!"

The old cliche applies: "When your only tool is a hammer, all of your problems will look like nails!"

I won't spend a second defending the bastards who attacked my country on 9/11 but I did come to the same conclusion as Reverend (I dislike that title) Wright.

I believe that the attacks on my country are indeed our "chickens coming home to roost". That they "hate our freedom" is nuts. bin Laden has said that their motivation was that our troops were based in his country, Saudi Arabia. Why can't we accept it?

PS: There are more chickens" out there....

On an auto trip through 9 European countries last October, we were required to stop at border crossings only upon re-entering Germany from the Czech Republic. There, they scanned our passports and gave us a friendly wave through. On a trip into Mexico two weeks ago, we crossed with only a friendly good morning.

We'll travel into Canada again in September for an annual fishing trip and while the Canadian authorities will ask a few questions: Guns? Potatoes? Liquor?, it will be pleasant enough.

What a paranoid pack of wimps we've become! Of course, paranoid people may really have "enemies" so there is some justification for caution but this is getting ridiculous! I won't even go into my recent flight to El Paso via Minneapolis and Phoenix. Northwest Airlines probably knows as as much about me as my mother did and yet my "travel documents" were looked at with a watchmakers eyepiece! It reminded me of 1950's thrillers of traveling into "godless commie" territory. Have we become what we used to despise?

Now for the main event! McCain will show the world what he is, a victim of the war machine that has taken our country so far from where it needs to be. A Navy jet-jock hot-shot hero he may be but still anchored in the past.

It'll be Obama in a landslide in November with a congress to his liking. We're watching history being made! It's the end of the right-wing hold on America's psyche through the use of fear.

God bless America indeed!!

Though a Roman Catholic and thus probably not too well versed in the "holy" bible, Mr. Santorum ought to take a closer look at the old testament. In it, he will find a "god" who most of us would probably not vote for as our Senator, would certainly not want as a neighbor and perhaps would not even want to live in the same town with.

That "God" is as vicious and bloodthirsty as anything he might run across in the Koran. That God's followers most certainly facilitated the holocaust in Europe under the good "christians" of Germany! So, out of the collective guilt for that horror, who did we punish? The Palestinians (for God's sake)!! Their punishment continues to this day!

I shudder to think that we have people in high places in our government who believe such stuff and I thank my "god" for leading me to atheism!

Old guy: "Where's my bolo tie dear?"

Old guy's wife: "For god's sakes, I sold it at our yard sale in the '80's, to the guy who bought the Yugo?"

Old guy: "I wish I had it back, the Yugo I mean."

I don't know what make of these anti-gay folks. They sure have a queer way of treating their fellow citizens. I'm reminded of a prayer I read somewhere:

"Lord, I'd like to love my neighbor but have you seen him? He's so different! So, if it's all the same with you Lord, why don't you love my neighbor and I'll love you."
