I think the most astonishing case of denial is the idea that after having Bill Frist, Tom Delay and W all at the helm of all 3 branches of government for a historically significant period of time NOTHING was done to make abortion illegal. I would argue that the Right would see the closing of Guantanamo and shutting down Military Commissions as empowering our enemies.
