"ALMOST IMPROPER" is a bit of an understatement, eh?

[Read more letters about this article: Here]Glenn Greenwald:
During the years of 2002 through 2004, George Bush was venerated like few other Presidents, spoken of in terms so reverent that at times it seemed almost improper to criticize him.

Country Music Radio Station List: Contact Them About Dixie Chicks!(Stand Up For America Alert!)
Did you hear about the Dixie Chicks' recent concert in London? They assured the audience they were "ashamed the President of the United States is from Texas". If you think the Chicks' are not representative of what country music fans think, you might want to contact your local radio station.http://littlegreenfootballs.com/weblog/?entry=5844_Hobbs_on_Chicks

11:15:34 am The costs of their little soiree will be more than they ever thought.
12:12:08 pm The Dixie Chicks are going to learn this lesson the hard way.
3:01:29 pm They are even worse than the hollywood commies
7:10:28 pm KWKH, which at one time broadcast "The Louisiana Hayride", is having a Dixie Chicks bash tomorrow. They're asking everyone to bring their Chick CDs, DVDs, photos etc and they're going to run over the stuff with a bull dozer.
7:32:25 pm this has nothing to do with opposing war, and everything to do with showing disrespect to America and President Bush
8:00:57 pm I don't see an anti-America bent to what they said. I'm seeing them unhappy with our good President, who, incidentally, I find to be a good President . . . I just don't see how "not supporting President Bush" makes one un-American . . Maybe I'm just too open-minded?
8:12:08 pm your so open-minded that a draft has formed within your empty head as well!? . . . see the president is our leader and the commander in chief. When we are at war the most important thing is for our union (i.e. unity) to be strong

Channels Of Influence
By PAUL KRUGMANPublished: March 25, 2003
By and large, recent pro-war rallies haven't drawn nearly as many people as antiwar rallies, but they have certainly been vehement. One of the most striking took place after Natalie Maines, lead singer for the Dixie Chicks, criticized President Bush: a crowd gathered in Louisiana to watch a 33,000-pound tractor smash a collection of Dixie Chicks CD's, tapes and other paraphernalia. To those familiar with 20th-century European history it seemed eerily reminiscent of. . . . But as Sinclair Lewis said, it can't happen here.
Who has been organizing those pro-war rallies? The answer, it turns out, is that they are being promoted by key players in the radio industry -- with close links to the Bush administration.
The CD-smashing rally was organized by KRMD, part of Cumulus Media, a radio chain that has banned the Dixie Chicks from its playlists. Most of the pro-war demonstrations around the country have, however, been organized by stations owned by Clear Channel Communications, a behemoth based in San Antonio . . .

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
June 4, 2007
STATEMENT OF FCC CHAIRMAN KEVIN MARTINON 2ND CIRCUIT COURT OF APPEALS INDECENCY DECISION
Today, the Second Circuit Court of Appeals in New York said the use of the words “fuck” and “shit” by Cher and Nicole Richie was not indecent. I completely disagree with the Court’s ruling and am disappointed for American families. I find it hard to believe that the New York court would tell American families that “shit” and “fuck” are fine to say on broadcast television during the hours when children are most likely to be in the audience. The court even says the Commission is “divorced from reality.” It is the New York court, not the Commission, that is divorced from reality in concluding that the word “fuck” does not invoke a sexual connotation. These words were used in prime time, when children were watching . . .
