Any Loyal Bushie Should Be In Favor Of Impeachment Now

How could anybody who believes that Bush was truthful yesterday not be in favor of impeachment?

Press Conference by the President
Rose Garden

[ . . . ]

Q Mr. President, a new Senate report this morning contends that your administration was warned before the war that by invading Iraq you would actually give Iran and al Qaeda a golden opportunity to expand their influence . . .

THE PRESIDENT: . . . You know, the lessons of September the 11th are these: we've got to stay on the offense; we've got to bring these people to justice before they hurt again . . . The danger in this particular theater in the war on terror is that if we were to fail, they'd come and get us. You know, I look at these reports right here in the Oval Office. For people who say that we're not under threat, they simply do not know the world. We are under threat. And it's in our interest to pursue this enemy.

Q Thank you, Mr. President. You say you want nothing short of victory, that leaving Iraq would be catastrophic; you once again mentioned al Qaeda. Does that mean that you are willing to leave American troops there, no matter what the Iraqi government does? I know this is a question we've asked before, but you can begin it with a "yes" or "no."

THE PRESIDENT: We are there at the invitation of the Iraqi government. This is a sovereign nation. Twelve million people went to the polls to approve a constitution. It's their government's choice. If they were to say, leave, we would leave.

WTF?

He agrees that it would be catastophic for the U.S. to leave Iraq, but he'd do that, anyway?

What are the possibilities here? Either the president doesn't truly believe that "they'd come and get us" , or he's lying that "we would leave" - - or both.

And there's one more possibility: President Bush truly believes everything he said yesterday, and he's willing to invite catastrophe into the U.S., if so requested by a bunch of Iraqi politicians. And any loyal Bushie who believes all of that should be in favor of immediate impeachment.

Goodbye To All That

Okay just one more item from yesterday's bird poop and more poop event in the Rose Garden and then I'll quit writing about it, but this last item, this nostalgia for the good old days of porter and skittles in the mideast is completely Looney Tunes.

The President: . . . The Middle East looked nice and cozy for awhile. Everything looked fine on the surface, but . . .

What planet did George Bush grow up on?

And speaking of Robert Graves, he's worth (re-)reading for Memorial Day.
