David Gregory Live Chat at MSNBC.com now

FYI - NBC's David Gregory is taking moderated questions at MSNBC.com in a live chat right now. Pre-publish edit... took too long to write, chat ended at 11am ET.

Long-time lurker here finally taking the time to post. Got online to check something else before heading out the door for work and saw that. I submitted a question which I should have copied before I hit submit, but it was along the lines of:

"Mr. Gregory, you and your fellow "insider" Beltway reporters and pundits seem to be in agreement with the propostion that former or current government officials should not be prosecuted for unequivocal and admitted illegal acts in their official capacity as public servants, because to do so would be 'divisive' and a 'distraction'. Do you not think it is more divisive and destructive in the long-run to, once again, not hold government officials responsible for criminal wrong-doing? Does this not codify a system of goverment in which officials can freely break the law knowing that their fellows (in both parties) will fail to push for prosecution and the mainstream media will abet this activity by treating any objections to all of the above behavior as unreasonable?"

Or something like that. Admittedly too long for such a format I am sure, but I was as interested in reaching the producers as Gregory himself.

Incidentally, the name it a bit of a h/t to one of Glenn's posts from the past week. This has been an area of concern for me for sometime and this has been one of the few places where I have found a blogger or a community where the preponderance of folks hold feet to the fire no matter who is running the show - As Glenn is found of saying X is wrong when "A" does it and X is still wrong when "B" does it. Who woulda thunk that having principals was so fringe and unhinged?

By way of introduction I'm an Air Force Vet who took my oath to "Support and Defend the Constitution against all enemies foreign and domestic..." seriously. I always considered that my reason for service... not to protect lives, or property, or an individual's desire to live an comfortable life (whatever that is), but to ensure that future generations would continue to enjoy (and hopefully continue to expand on) our hard-won liberties. I continue to feel that way.

Hope to have time to drop a post in here from time-to-time. When I feel like I have something useful to add... problem is there are just too many smart people here! By the time I usually have a chance to read-up and think about dropping a comment in three or four people have said what I'd like to say - better than I think I'd probably say it!

David Gregory Chat

Follow-up: Not a shock, but my question did not get forwared to David Gregory.
