I always enjoy reading your words, even though I am a Clinton supporter. I enjoyed this one when I read it as well, until I saw Joe Scarborough and Mika Brzezinski this morning and I realized that while entertaining, this and similar posts are also distorted and vicious. I think if you reduced it a little more you'd have something more valuable to say.
"baby mama" means the baby's mama -- it's not restricted to unmarrieds or blacks. any mom is a baby mama. that said, it was despicable and reprehensible. but there's also this:
Stop attacking my wife's knuckles with your face

The problem is this image is not as clear-cut as you'd like it to be. It only reminds me of the REAL image of Obama's friend William Ayers trampling a REAL American flag.

CHUCK TODD: As somebody who used to work in the print field, this is what the magazine business has been reduced to. Where they now -- even upscale magazines like The New Yorker -- have to make the decision to go tabloid sometimes to try to get buzz for their magazine so they can up sales a little bit. Editorially, what's not appropriate in some form -- we do have a freedom of speech here -- but as far as putting it on the cover, it just looked to me like a desperate attempt to sell magazines, and that's what it's going to come across as. We've seen others do this. You keep pushing the envelope because fewer and fewer people are buying print magazines.
NATIONAL REVIEW: A Theory on What The New Yorker Was Thinking: If Obama loses, the editors of The New Yorker would prefer to be able to blame it on "paranoid fearmongering" rather than the public actually rejecting Obama on the basis of his positions or lack of experience.

"funny, light-touch approach" -- are you kidding? The man is setting this country up for division: "If I'm not elected, it's because America is a racist country." It can't have anything to do with his tissue-thin resume or abject phoniness. That he's playing this card in such a "funny, lighthearted way" is all the more repulsive.
Dear Joan Walsh,
Of course I won't read this piece until you have some photo-shop fun with Joe Biden in a leather cod piece asking Alberto Gonzalez to drink his sweat.
This is the kind of crap that makes the American people hate the liberal media. Unless you've put someone else's cleavage on Hillary in the past. Have you? I'd love to know.
I'm not a Republican, though I admit I do like what I've seen of Sarah Palin so far. But I've found myself coming to her defense with a passion ever since she was announced as John McCain's running mate, and it looks like that will continue.
Peggy Noonan was right: You're going to have to kill Palin, and kill her quick. If you don't, you're screwed. She is the Woman America Has Been Waiting For To Deliver Us From Barack Obama.
Congratulations on helping to create our next Iron Lady.
I did not even realize this photo was on the HOMEPAGE until just now.
Well, that's that -- kiss Salon goodbye. One my site I no longer have to visit. The Paglia stuff was the only thing bringing me back, and that's been predictable all season.
DELETE BOOKMARK & find another "news" source!
Joan, you've got some major credibility repair work ahead of you.
MAYBE MAYBE MAYBE if it was in cartoon form, but even then only MAYBE. Using real photos and stitching them together = vapid, contemptuous, disrespectful, and frankly it makes you look frightened that this election may be taken away from you.
Peggy Noonan is right: you'll have to kill Palin right quick.
But you're giving McCain-Palin FULL LICENSE to ride a wave of media resentment straight into the White House. That's what this messages says, putting this image on the homepage: We, Salon, relinquish all responsibility going forward.
Where does Joe Biden get photoshopped into a cod piece? I mean where, OUTSIDE the gutter?
Salon, you've stepped in it. THIS IS THE MAIN IMAGE ON YOUR HOMEPAGE! Who is responsible for that?
McCain was warning about Fannie & Freddie while Obama was pocketing their money and suing them for not making riskier & risker loans.
No wonder he won't go to Washington to lead. He's never taken his Senate duties seriously; why start now?
Harry Reid: "No one knows what to do!"
Barack Obama: "Call me if you need me. (And please, don't need me)."
Obama is an "avatar of reconciliation".

Telling that you effortlessly slide from Sotomayor's "better conclusion" to "different conclusion."
What's up buttercup?
Would love to see you have the courage to stop dancing around her assertion that her background makes her "better" and actually address what you think that means.
Joan, it seems you're not going to address the issue at hand: Sotomayor's apparent belief in her superiority to white men. Can you please ask Camille to take an honest crack at it if you're not going to?
Thanks
Ann Richards was a POLITICIAN making a joke.
Sotomayor is a SITTING JUDGE repeatedly expressing racial superiority.
This is all you have to say on this subject? Not even a mention of the Ricci case? This woman is facing a lifetime appointment. I was disappointed but not surprised to see Joan Walsh automatically and disingenuously equate "better" with "different" (when she wasn't ignoring or obfuscating the "better" bromide altogether). But I thought you'd take it more seriously. Alors. That U2 song & video are pretty boring. These words of yours, unlike the plupart, are very unnecessary.
