I feel so blessed that I've never had an encounter with a "bridezilla." I've only participated in a couple of weddings, plus my own two. And none of them involved any of the demands described in this article and the comments.
I have no more to say here.
Thanks for assembling these versions of Pachelbel's Canon. What fun! Those Korean break dancers are fantastic. And Los Pop Tops: I was expecting Spanish, but their English was perfect.
Just this evening, I watched an episode of Bill Moyers' Journal, which was devoted to the corruption of our government, specifically in the form of Republicans. It was focused on Jack Abramoff and his cohort of influence-peddling lobbyists and the Republican stooges they bought.
Yes, of course McCain's foreign-policy adviser profited from the Iraq war, as did McCain himself, no doubt.
This regime is corrupt from the top down. It disgusts me. And no doubt many Democratic Congress critters are equally corrupt. I feel so sad. I don't know what we the people can do. Clearly, those that have get more. And those that don't have get less.
I thought her letter was clear that she is in love with him.
When marriage contracts were in the news years ago, I was deeply involved in family history. From a long, intricate family-history document, I learned that marriage contracts were standard in the 19th century. As a result, I believe that marriage contracts should be standard again. States could publish standard forms, to be issued with marriage licenses, with boxes to be checked off for such issues as who will be responsible for keeping house, and what will be done in case the marriage ends.
Thank you for your comments, GSC. Maybe, some day, the Olympics will be held somewhere in India.
I used to love watching the Olympic competitions. But, now, I haven't watched them in years.
Too bad, so sad. The ideal of the Olympics is beautiful. The reality is not.
Regardless of McCain's knowledge or lack of it about the Internet, he displays early symptoms of Alzheimer's Disease, just like his hero, Ronald Reagan, did in his first run for the presidency.
Our national downhill slide started with Ronnie: deregulation, de-unionization, holding down the minimum wage, and a huge gap between the wealth of the top few percent vs. the rest of us, hard-working though we may be. Fehhh!
Yes, when I read your post about the only Native American to win a gold medal in the Olympics, I immediately thought of Jim Thorpe. But his medals were taken from him for some absurd political reason.
Oh, yeah, here it is from Wikipedia: "He subsequently lost his Olympic titles when it was found he was paid for playing two seasons of minor league baseball before competing in the games (thus violating the amateur status rules)."
And his gold medals were in the Decathlon and Pentathlon. What an amazing athlete. But in the movie about his life, he was played by a white man, Burt Lancaster, I think.
In addition to the comments others have made about how inappropriate (and maybe illegal?) it is for the current government to undermine a woman's right to obtain a safe, legal abortion, I noticed this comment in the article, "the proposal protects a medical worker's right to refuse to assist in the performance of abortions and sterilization."
Oh, so sterilization is as bad as abortion? WTF? Why should a woman who doesn't want more -- or any -- children be forced to use some expensive method of contraception? As I understand it, insurance companies generally won't pay for birth-control pills.
You said, "powerful vested interests want America to be a world government, but only if it can be unelected and unaccountable for its actions."
It already is.
I feel so ashamed of my country, I can hardly believe it. I never imagined this fascist takeover of my country. Why aren't we all out marching in the streets?
