Liberal Lion

All I could think of watching this is how proud Teddy Kennedy would be to see someone so passionately working for healthcare reform in such a thoughtful manner.

I hereby nominate Al Franken as the new Liberal Lion of the Senate! After watching that video, I can't think of anyone more perfect to fill those shoes. Thanks Al.

@Elephantman

Dobb's might not be republican but there are plenty of republicans such as congressman Campbell who are going along with and supporting the birther crazies.

The link to the Meghan McCain/Ann Coulter story

I posted the link to the story about Meghan McCain's blog about Ann Coulter in my signature below.

I Love Watching Republicans Self Destruct.

Apparently Megan McCain is beating up on Ann Coulter as well :)

Former Republican Sen. Lincoln Chafee

Alex, Why no report on Lincoln Chafee's remarks calling Sarah Palin "Cocky and wacky"? He also donated to Obama's campaign. Seems like big news.

@Rain Worshipper

Did a quick search and found the article you mentioned here:

Original article: Questions for Sarah Palin

more questions

1. Which books were you planning to ban?

2. Do you really believe that dinosaurs were alive 4000 years ago?

@wkbredhold @Alex

I was just about to post something similar. Since Palin joined the republican ticket I have seem a huge huge increase in friends and family who are willing to go out do anything they can to help obama win. This is energizing the democratic base as much as the republican base and if Salon insists on continuing their ridiculous parade of palin stories I would love to have this be one of them.

Seriously Alex, when I first read the headline I figured their had to be something new being reported but was surprised that it was just a story about the energized repub base which we've heard over and over again since she was nominated.

I really enjoy most of your posts but this one was really useless.

It Matters

As Matt Damon said:

"I need to know if she really thinks dinosaurs were here 4000 years ago. I want to know that. I really do because she's gonna have the nuclear codes. I wanna know that"

Also, I don't think anyone who believes the rapture is near and is hoping for it should be anywhere near nuclear weapons.

@rupert_c

You obviously didn't watch Obama's speech or McCain's for that matter when he made similar comments (re:pig with lipstick) in reference to Hillary Clinton's policy.

Obama made no mistake and there was most definitely no sexism in his remark. It was clear (to anyone with a 3 digit IQ) that he was talking about McCain and his policy.

Thanks Glenn!

I've been meaning to write to say how much I appreciate all you do Glenn. Thank you for continuously tackling and shining a light on so much of what is wrong with our media and political system.

It's a Lie

The idea that it is "normal" and "necessary" to stage events and give vague answers to important questions or that it's impossible to make true contact with real people is only true in our society the way we have created it. While in the past it has taken great speaking skill and some of these tactics might have been used, the extent to which it is happening today and the expectation that this is "the way it is" is new and outrageously frightening.

What This Article Should Have Been About

What is so alarming is that Hillary Clinton is using the same tactics as George W. Bush and we are letting her get away with it. Staged campaign events, not taking real questions, pretending that she is listening to the people but then doing the exact opposite, not talking to the press or only talking to her chosen press. It's no wonder that so many people feel like their voice isn't heard and just give up on politics and politicians.

Do we really want another 4-8 years of "I will not comment on an ongoing investigation" and other vague and elusive answers to our questions? It's time for some real change.
