Thank you, David Sirota. The Federal Reserve and Congress are in a war to fight the current deflation of assets (houses and stocks) by inflating the money supply. By 2010, we may see run-away inflation and another "told you so" column. Obama and team has their work cut out, but unless they buck the establishment, which isn't likely, we're headed for more severe economic turbulence.
My god; you're excellent, Glenn!
I suspect that your evaluation of America's psychosis can be extended to other parts of the world. I'm thinking of particularly Great Britain and others countries that depend on American military protection to keep the oil flowing. The elite in those countries have probably convinced their subjects that, however unfortunate, American torture was justified for the greater good.
Most excellent, Mr. Greenwald ... thank you.
Glenn, You were great on Bill Moyers. Your recent columns have been outstanding. I'm so glad I started reading Salon regularly; I always look for you FIRST.
Superb reporting and analysis, Glenn.
"The more things change .... "
Sirota say, in part:
.... rebel Republicans will have to do battle with the country clubbers .... for an internal Republican war to explode.I would suggest that the term "country clubbers" really misses the point about who controls and finances the Republicans. So many right-wing, Christian (and other religious) conservatives would never pay country club dues but would gladly give $100 to their candidate or to pass initiatives such as Proposition 8 in California last year.
Glenn is giving Tom Tomorrow's This Modern World new ideas for parody.
I knew another couple such as you and your partner. It's very heartbreaking, and you deserve much better from our country.
I guess that money talks loudly in politics and policy making everywhere. In the United States, it seems, money not only talks but it yells, screams, stomps its feet, and gets its way.
Is it that way in Brazil?
Here in the U.S., I'm thinking particularly about the gay issues, such as the tremendous money poured into the Yes on Prop. 8 campaign in California from the Knights of Columbus and the LDS Mormons. Of course, their bigger agenda was to send a signal nationwide that 'our kind' can be stopped.
Will we ever return to a time in which everything in the United States in not politicized? Or is politicizing of everything just an indication of an imploding country and culture?
I am SO glad that I let me 20-year old subscription to Newsweek run out this month. Bye, bye!
Regarding your Update - you are so, so bad! :-)
