Is it just me, or is this possibly the least helpful post that Cary has written so far?
I mean, I guess we're all supposed to feel sorry for the woman who has such a nice "retreat" in her very own home but has to share it with her relatives. I'm not terribly sympathetic to her plight, but the concept is a little more universal -- someone's not offering simple respect for someone else's things.
It's all well and good for us to say "fuck the rules" once in a while, Cary, but most of us live in society and can't easily do that all the time. We have to choose our battles. You might say "why?" Well, because we have family that we don't want to cut ourselves from voluntarily, even though they might not have manners and might hold a grudge against us if we asked them to get some.
You constantly go on about how yours is such a great job, how you got here. I think you owe a little more to those who write in to you than to dismiss the day's worth with a couple short paragraphs and a flippant response.
But that's just me.
I'm astounded, like some others here, that Daschle and Kerry are supposedly "in the running" here, but Richardson isn't? I can't think of a better running mate...
I sincerely hope someone can get through to the Obama campaign and throw his name in the hat. He deserves a serious look.
Leave it to a Mac company to charge $24.99 for a program that simply lets you type to the screen. I know, I know... It's not supposed to be Notepad, but come on.
Have you been watching the same broadcasts as I have? I have had an absolute blast watching the coverage from MSNBC this convention. It's been like some great party that I was invited to. The "protesters" that the war room article talks about, um, were actually FANS of Olbermann, Matthews, Maddow, etc. Rachel could barely get a word in before they were cheering her. And when Matthews would go down and "work the crowd" at the end of the night asking them what they thought, it was just a lot of fun. And I have NEVER been a Matthews fan until now. I honestly hope they don't change a thing. The guests have been stellar, the banter has been fun to watch, the sudden burst of a train's horn every once in a while... I started the convention watching CNN and just couldn't stand it after a while. Wolf's inane questions, Carville angrily arguing with some GOP talking head, Cooper looking all proper like he couldn't say what he really wanted. I can't WAIT to see MSNBC's broadcast of the GOP convention. Keep up the great work, guys! You gave me four solid nights of interesting guests, great questions and commentators (Chuck Todd, in particular, had some great insights over the convention), and made the whole thing extremely entertaining. Hope you don't change a thing. And no, I don't work for MSNBC or know anyone over there.
Best. Advice. Ever.
Wasn't it Sarah Palin who chided Joe Biden for looking as far back as eight years ago? I thought they were looking forward??
Now they want us to look back FORTY YEARS??
Really wish they'd get their story straight. This is so confusing to us low-information voters. :)
Just as an example, I haven't given any money to Schumer this year. I've given directly to Obama...
And that's how it's going to be from now on until the Democrats can start standing up for traditional Democratic ideals instead of being terrified about their own re-election chances.
No more DSCC, no more DCCC. Sorry, folks.
Wiig is hilarious... My wife and I just die laughing every time she's on, particularly when she does Target lady, or Aunt Linda, or that woman reporter who hits on her guests.
She fantastic, and with Maya gone, she finally started getting some spots in the skits.
I think you need to give her a little more credit, rather than just saying something about how "she's not exciting yet."
You obviously haven't been watching the same SNL as we have. Next to Poehler, she's the strongest female the cast has had in a while.
If you actually read the proposal GM laid out, you'd have seen that General Motors, far from being an irresponsible automaker bent on creating the most polluting, gas-hogging SUVs ever made, was already heading down the "lean-and-nimble" path.
The proposal detailed the real-world progress that the company has made in moving toward fuel-efficient cars, including hybrids and electrics.
Plant efficiency has improved year-over-year, operations were streamlined, costs were cut, quality has improved dramatically.
In a recent shootout in Road & Track between the Chevy Cobalt SS and the Mazdaspeed3, Subaru WRX and Mitsubishi Evo, guess which car won overall? Guess which car editors liked best overall? The Cobalt. Amazing, huh? The Speed3, WRX and Evo are well-established, powerful economy cars. Here comes GM and steals the show.
You say no one is buying GM cars, but GM was quickly moving to a place where people WOULD buy their cars. Is it their fault that the economy cratered just as things were coming together?
I don't see the investment agencies and banks coming up with any "proposals" and short- and long-term solutions. Why should they get the billion dollar bailouts and not GM?
I'm a SAAB guy, and even though I feel GM has tragically and overtly ignored the brand, I still feel the company has a lot to offer and deserves the help it is seeking.
Cary, that was the most perfect, focused response I've read from you in a very long time. Perfect.
