Original article: The fuel on the hill

Exellent lesson to be learned here...

The reader might want to keep in mind that this program for biofuels and ethanol was largely at the insistence of people who orinally thought this was a good idea for the environment, and perhaps executed as imagined originally it would have been, but after being industrialized and "juiced" for profit, we see that a strong government, linked to big money brings about the exact kind of thing that most who advocated a turn towards more natural, non-polluting, energy solutions were trying to avoid.

Can anyone see the disturbing paralells becomming apparent as global plans to address CO2 are being drawn up? I'm not sure what the solution to planetary climate change is, but I have that sinking feeling that the first thing to be sacrificed in pursuit of the theoretical "ideal" and "unchanging" climate that politicians find convenient, will be wild or fallow...anything but the least costly solution: engineering crop seed that doubles or triples the amount of root that is produced...and then left in the ground as a no-till cultivated production area.

In the mean time, all output from our industrial activities should be monitored, contained and kept track-of so that the industries responsible will be held accountable as we do away with the outdated idea of "free-rent" as it applies to the un-accountable use of our shared resources like clean water and wind on this planet.

Give the gunman his ammo back?

This is one of those terribly stupid PC things that make sense in the mind but not in the real world. I wish RP and everyone would take all the money they can from the political fringe, do it openly and ridicule 'em for being so stupid, if that's what they think...and I'd do the same for the bigshot coroporate sponsors who actually do come around to pullin the choice favor at an unspecified future date and time.

Again, all this rests on transparency and the reason we don't have enough is because the guys who could enforce it (our elected leaders) are addicted to the money and power and don't want it to stop or even slow down. RP stands for transparency, adherence to the constitution and for a government that is limited. Which is what a lot of leaders will tell you but unless one changes the current calculus, it's merely a pipedream.

Since Faith is so Real....

...Why not ask Huckabee if we shouldn't be paying the poor to pray for solutions.

Since he doesn't favor his own religion over others, will someone ask him if satanists are welcome in his administration.

Would somebody please stop handlinig this guys religion like it was his god given right to rub our noses in it while making all sort of noise about how he won't.

Original article: The year in sports

Sports?

Could the editors of this fine journal consider a clarification when they use the term "sports" in this publication. You see, for a lot of us, sports means doing stuff, like hiking, kayaking, birdwatching (america's most popular sport..though you'd hardly know it)and other activities. So far as I know there weren't many controversies with these, but there were some problems with that other stuff that gets confused with "sports". Maybe instead of sports you could create an acronym like BOPMMOAET (Bloated Overpaid Masturbating Monkeys On An Ego Trip) so we don't get confused.

Thanks..Oh...and the Annual Bird Count is going on! Oh, I'm sure you knew that since you're so into sports.

Oh..and PS

Next time some senator with way too much time on his hands takes it upon himself to investigate the travesty of these grandstanding piles of poop on the flimsiest of grounds about how children look up to these sad examples of matter over mind you might want to suggest where we can send a bill for the misuse of government funds. Mitchell should be hung by his nuts in a minneaplolis mens room.

You forgott to mention something.

As far as the enviroment and the energy picture is concerned, you forgot about the important research and support that's going towards non-radioactive fusion (not to be confused with the gigantic "soup-bowl" known as the Tokomak). If you are still under the impression that commercial fusion is still 50 years into the future, just where it's always been, you identifiy yourself as someone for whom one's concern is surpassed by one's ignorance of current research and developement.

Looking for a sign?

Why doesn't Romney and his followers try an old trick of putting a couple of magical stones over his eyes while staring into his hat. That would really bring more religious mysticism back into the oval office where W's non-mormon variety has been so religiously accepted for the last 6 and 1/2 years.
