[Read more letters about this article: Here]So, Joe, if this is the most important non-carbon energy source for the 21st century, can I presume that you havent heard of Inertial Confinement Electrodynamic fusion? Or you've only heard it disparaged by the Tokomak people or others who are basing their remarks of 20 year old understanding?
Also, when we talk about how important that it be carbon neutral, why no discussion on agricultural techniques to sequester the carbon. Really, I'm not all that convinced we're in the state where alarm is needed but recognize how dead-assed and scientifically illiterate most people are so I take the panic mode as proposed by Al Gore in stride, but really, why no serious discussion about using selective genetics to increase the biomass below the ground combined with no-till or strip till practices which could do a whole lot to bring that carbon down quickly without throwing the world's economy into the hands of a scheme which I find reminiscent of Al Gore's plan in the late 90s called GPRA...ever heard of it? If you worked for the feds in that time frame you would have and it should cause anyone to have some apprehension that a larger international scale organization along the same lines would not be such a great idea.
By the way...I do like this solar thermal stuff where applicable, but it's not likely gonna reduce the soot produced by all the cargo vessels going across the oceans and sea carrying our resources and goods in this increasingly global economy, nor will it reduce the soot and heavy metals that are really screwin' the polar bears more than the lack of ice...that soot comes from coal buring energy plants in China, India and a bunch of the other soon to be economic giants that were exempt..thank you, Kyoto.

[Read more letters about this article: Here]If we study human culture,and not just european culture of the last few centuries, we see that polygamy is rather normal and just one of a wide range of cultural family models that various groups have tried over the ages. It's surprising how little negative effects any of them seem to have on children. Many pay no regard to age specifically but tend to have over-riding social concerns for the person's well-being, so where a 12 year old might be married-off, if that 12 year old is too immature, the consumation might be postponed or if it appears to be abusive, families and/or other social structures come into play. Every culture sees its future in being able to sustain its practices without undue cruelty, despite what european missionaries may think on seeing cultures with different practices. I wish our laws were not so tied-up with our eurocentric ideas on morality and sex. People have been taking care of it without the benefit of victorian standards for a long long time and if you think that the problems with our society is that we don't observe them enough, well, I suggest you could stand to study some cultures without the benefit of the christian/european perspective that is so prevasive in all the laws dealing with morality, sex and marriage.
I don't know if it's considered liberal or conservative, but I do feel that what we have now is a product of a particular kind of obsession which came to dominate our western laws and morality standards sometime after that famous mysoginist had his pre-frontal epileptic seizure on the way to Damascus 2,000 years ago, and it's been plagueing all of us ever since.

[Read more letters about this article: Here]Every taxpaying person should know that the IRS is not some pre-ordained orgainization that the founding fathers thought would be a good idea in order to fund a government beaurocracy that can penetrate and dominate your life. As a matter of fact the original revolutionaries were fed-up by exactly this kind of control that their former rulers exerted over citizens who wished only to be living in a free society. So when you think about changes to the IRS think about having it get off your back and have it come up with a fair and simple way to go about its business, necessary evil that it must by, but that it has not place in expecting the free citizens of a free country to tuck their tails between their legs and be subjected to the maddeningly complex and seemingly arbitrary powers that they exert over the unlucky among us just to keep us in line. This is not a cause of the left or the right. It is and should be the primary interest of every citizen to see that their government never has this kind of power to screw you over with so little recourse to realistic remedy. This is why Ron Paul appealed to so many on either side...unfortunately he was more or less ignored by a media that employes an army of accountants to keep itself well protected from the abuse many of your fellow citizens experience with increasing frequency. We were born free.

I heard the German Prime Minister just called W's decisions on Global Warming "neanderthal" and it looks like the next batch of big ots won't be much better; hommo deflectus.
