I Love D&D
[Read the article: Gary Gygax's final quest]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Thank you very much for writing this. Ever since I heard that Gary Gygax passed I've been going around various sites on the net, nerd sites from Slashdot to Enworld, and am very glad to see that it's mentioned here on Salon. Gary Gygax as as influential of an artist and writer as any who've received and obit here, and he deserved attention even if us nerds and geeks may still be looked down upon.
I agree with what impact D&D has had on the net, computers and essentially everything high tech. Still I was saddened when at my work, in an IT development group, when someone mentioned Gygax's passing and I said how I still played D&D -- they laughed at me. I'm 37 years old, a well payed computer programmer, with a wife and two kids, but they still laughed at me like when I was in high school. For being a geek. It was frustrating at first but I calmly told them I still play, my wife plays, and my 4 year old son wants to. Then I told them what it was like, creating a character and a story and a whole nother world to live in. At then end they weren't laughing at me but, perhaps, appreciated the creative world that I and other gamers live in.

Actually both are correct
[Read the article: New Clinton camp spin contradicts old Clinton camp spin]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Actually both are correct. Momentum has swung, though it does not matter since voters and delegates are what matter.

one dimensional artice
[Read the article: Let 'em duke it out]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]A lot of what is written in this article is true but it is still flabbergasting that you could write an article like this without even mentioning the nasty negative campaigning.
If you're going to write an article trying to argue against a prevailing opinion, ie the prolonged campaign is bad for the democrats, you should at least acknowledge the points made in that opinion.

McCain wins again
[Read the article: Was Obama's skin darkened for Clinton ad?]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]All I get from this is either:
A) Clinton's staff is race baiting to win
or
B) Obama's supporters are wild with conspiracies.
Neither of these are good, and it doesn't even matter if BOTH are false because just getting it into the media smears both candidates.
This is just another pathetic example of how the race for the democratic nomination is destroying both candidates. It makes me sad.

@mountain girl
[Read the article: Some free advice for Obama]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Mountain Girl,
I think your wrong.
Though we all might agree that we should "save our hatred for the Republicans" and that Clinton is not "evil" and Obama is "not being picked on" that's not the issue with the letters for this article.
The issue is Joe Conason is being completely one sided (bordering on hypocrisy), and being shown up by a previous article by Glenn Greenwald (which numerous other have pointed out). I wont remake points already made in letters but people aren't screaming that Clinton is evil ... they're screaming Joe Conason might be.

puzzled
[Read the article: Democrats' November dreaming]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]I'm puzzled. How am I supposed to use this article as a way to flame Clinton or Obama supporters?

Outrage
[Read the article: Texas, can we please have a winner?]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]This is outrageous. The Cliboma machine is not getting the proper media attention of the fact that Obinton won the caucuses, which any Cliboma supporter will agree are unfair and unbiased toward Obinton.
I expect better from Salon.

What states are important -- @Ban @Brian
[Read the article: Obama takes Wyoming]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]I'm an avid Obama supporter, but I believe the 1 strong argument Clinton will have at the end of the nomination process is that she's won more battleground states, and that is why winning PA is so important, and North Carolina less so (it's a red state).
If Clinton wins PA, and both Florida and Mich. (assuming a redone primary) it's a very strong case if the delegate count is close and she's behind (she can't actually catch up). It's like screaming "We won the ones that really matter."
So does every state matter as much? In terms of delegates you could say so but some states (the battleground ones) will get you more Super Delegates that others.
Is it fair, no. But it is a prudent case to be made.
My $.02

good points -- @snowman @ban
[Read the article: Obama takes Wyoming]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Just wanted to say you made very good points. I'm surprised to see so many states flipping their "color", as those colors have stayed the same for a relatively long time. Then again, that is another plus for Obama -- it really points to a sea change in American politics.
Thanks,
Mike

What about the people of Seattle?????
[Read the article: "Battle in Seattle" rocks Austin]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]I was working downtown during some of the riots. I got to stay home and avoid much of it but I still remember our building turning off the air conditioning so as not to start inhaling tear gas and I remember having to show ID to pass from street to street.
Now, I haven't seen the movie but what strikes me from this review is how it mentions the protesters, the police, the mayor, but not the actual people who live in Seattle. Oh, and don't even think the majority of the protesters were native (though many were). Isn't it incredibly hypocritical to make a movie about a movement that's supporting average people around the world in the face of an uncaring corporate interests and not put average people into the movie who are facing protesters who don't really care about the lives of the people who live in Seattle?!
I know lots of Seattleites who were in favor of the protests, many who were against them, and most who think they were good but things went horribly wrong. What I personally can't stand is someone making a movie about these events and not showing how it affected the average people who live through them, not just the protesters who travelled there for them.
Of course if the movie does display the events of "people like me" then I apologize, but from what I've read it doesn't.
