  • GOP's CNN/YouTube debate

Great post, as usual. Only one thing..Duncan Hunter was the one that was harping on the guy about throwing guns around, not Tom Tancredo. Tancredo said plenty of crazy things, but Hunter was the one that wanted to make himself out to be John Wayne with the gun safety rules.

  • Time Magazine refused to publish responses to Klein's false smears

Cancelled my subscriptions to Time, People, & In Style today! Not to mention the fact that I will no longer view CNN (I didn't very often anyway) due to their partnership w/Time. Thank you for keeping us updated and informed on this matter.

  • Barack looked vicious?

The exchange made me laugh and I thought what Obama said was brilliant. You had to know it was funny when it made the moderator laugh..come on guys..lighten up. This debate was much better than the Republican one. Maybe that's why they are hinting around at a do-over?!

  • Reid praised Rockefeller after he pulled the bill

What was the purpose of that? Anyone that has read anything about where Sen. Rockefellers loyalties are, know that he is totally beholden to the telecom companies for major campaign contributions. Now we know the same about Reid and AT&T, so for him to stand there and talk about the tremendous effort that they put in to oversight on their version of the bill was insulting. Major kudos to Dodd & Feingold for putting a temporary stop to this madness. I'm still having a little trouble with the whole immunity thing anyway..if you didn't do anything wrong, then what do you need it for?

  • Huckabee's selective federalism

[Read the article: Mike Huckabee's selective federalism]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

As someone that was born in Virginia, lived in Kentucky and Georgia I have to claim to be Southern by accident (birth!) What is bothersome to me is the claim of conservatism by Southerners, or at least the ones I know. There is a distinct difference between fiscal conservatism and social conservatism. A lot of people seem to be hiding behind "social" conservatism as a way to justify the fact that they are not accepting of others. It's not even closet racism or discrimination, they are pretty up-front about it. I have relatives that drive gigantic gas slurping trucks with gun racks and HUGE decals of the Confederate Flag. They quote the Bible every chance they get. They don't believe in racial equality and still use colorful language. They don't believe in gay rights and use MORE than colorful language. They idolize the Civil War era, hate Abraham Lincoln and their doorbells chime to the tune of "Dixie". These are the people that Huckabee panders to, and believe me they will vote for him. My question is, how is that tactic going to play outside of the "south"? As the lone Democrat in my family, they all think I have a birth defect. I try not to criticize them too much for their backward mentality but it's awfully embarrassing.

  • Fair is fair

    [Read the article: Nasty, again]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

Why is Obama the only one expected the rise above the fray and disassociate with any and all remarks/ads/criticisms against the Clinton campaign. It seems like they want it all their way or no way at all. It is unrealistic in this day and time to expect that no one will utter a nasty word about you. For someone that claims to be such a seasoned and experienced candidate, she seems awfully touchy. When her surrogates spout off about 30 year old drug use, like its relevant today, then expect to get a little back. She put out statements that Obama was less than sympathetic to womens issues, did he send out an army of people to whine for him? No. Get over yourself and get on with the campaign please.

  • Give me a break!

[Read the article: Dolores Huerta: "Como se llama" Obama?]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

Spending so much time on a few instances of alleged intimidation on the Clinton side and giving no attention to the supposed hundreds of complaints from the Obama side for the same things. Why? Intimidating phone calls and push polling in the rural areas focusing on the "Hussein" part of Obamas name. The whole thing is infuriating and this "poor Hillary" routine is getting very old very fast. I have never seen the Clintons whining so much as I did this past week and now that I look back on it, I think the whole thing was by design. She had the establishment vote from the get-go, you've got the newspaper out there "The Las Vegas Sun" running one sided arguments, you've got President Clinton acting like a 3 year old and she had been leading in the polls the entire time. As a woman nothing embarrasses or pisses me off more than to hear other women say "She is the woman and deserves it" Why? That logic is nonsense no matter who you support. The inevitability factor came back to bite her, then the entitlement factor came back to bite her and sooner or later the poor little victimized woman routine will come back to bite her. I have been a long time Clinton supporter and voted for him both times, but this time, after these displays I am rethinking all of it.

  • testy? not hardly

[Read the article: Is Obama getting "testy"?]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

Has anyone bothered to watch Bill Clinton get all puffed up & red-faced, loud & pointing his finger and wagging it in the face of a reporter that dared to ask him a question that he didn't think was fair? Now THAT was "testy"! This exchange with Obama was nothing. I agree with one of the other commentors here that said MSM is really trying to make something out of nothing now and sensationalize an already stressful situation.
