This is the biggest scam I've every seen, and Dems are falling for it.
The PUMA thing is nothing but 'operation chaos'.
This is just Republican women pretening to be disaffected Hillary supporters.
I call bullshit.
Every person I've seen reporting on the ground in Denver is saying that they can't find one actual Hillary support who says they'll be voting McCain.
This is brilliant Republican theatre, but pure bullshit.
... didn't there used to be an unspoken 'honor amongst theives', whereby Party A shut the hell up during Party B's convention and visa versa. I don't remember opposite party folks going anywhere near the opposing convention city in the past.
Seems like the Republicans are doing a LOT of pissing on the Democratic convention (a favor which I truly hope the Dems will return in spades.)
Stop babbling on about how this is McCain's attempt to get disaffected Hillary voters. That's been a ruse all along. No such thing. And those that do exist are Republicans anyway.
This is a hard tack to the Right to secure the ultra right religious base. He can then focus on independents without wasting time worrying about the christo-fascist crowd.
Pay attention people.
"it is impossible to imagine her browbeating CIA analysts to concoct new rationales for invading Iraq. "
Oh yeah? that's precisely the type of bully she appears to be. Vindictive and ruthless. Sounds like a perfect successor to Cheney.
BTW, anyone out there who can't see that when McCain dies or retires for health reasons, she becomes the next Bush? An intellectual mediocrity who will be have a strong VP appointed to 'help' her... maybe even Cheney again.
If the Dems don't get on the stick fast, within a week the phrase 'community organizer' will be embedded in the vernacular as meaning 'black'.
The Repubs will then be able to play race to their hearts' content while claiming innocence.
Last figure I saw put the total value of ALL earmarks a something like 30 billion.
Now that's nice chump change, but doesn't even come up to the ankles of the money mcCain wants to continue spending in foreign adventures.
This earmark meme is pure smoke, but it plays well because any one earmark can be made to look stupid to someone outside of that district.
Let's take a look at his running mate's supported earmarks, shall we?
... how about they start by agreeing to stop lobbying against reasonable CAFE standards?
And also agreeing that they will not revert to gas guzzlers in the event of a gas price dip?
And that they begin shaping public demand with advertising that extols economy rather than crotch level images of racecars zipping along imaginary, traffic-free roads?
Anyone who can't see that the Republican 'rebellion' is nothing but a script to allow John to show his ability 'confront his own party', 'work across the aisle', 'put aside politics'.
The deadlock will continue through the debate, at which time McCain will be able to claim victory, avoid his debate, and replace Palin's debate with a 'make-up'.
Its so transparent its pathetic.
... that Obama brought along his legislative assistant, while McCain brought along his campaign assistant.
... but I think that was one of the best debates I've ever seen in a presidential election.
Leherer stayed out of the way, and the exchanges were allowed to go back and forth as needed. 3 and 4 times.
Ok, probably bringing my own prejudices to, but I thought Obama mopped the floor with McCain simply by standing above the heat and letting McCain bluster on.
Just how out of touch does McCain sound when he rails on and on about earmarks totaling ~20B,when we're talking hundreds of billions for bailouts.
BTW, would Obama PLEASE bring up 'starve the beast'?
All he has to do is get a few million people Googling that phrase to figure out exactly what's going on.
The Couric interview showed someone who can't think on their feet when asked questions that require reaching beyond their little box.
In this debate format, she was able to (blatantly and proudly) ignore the questions and recite her talking points.
She delivers a speech fine and does the cutesy thing great.
But she said nothing, albeit well. and that was obvious.
As someone said, not the train wreck many would have enjoyed more, but that's not a bad thing. A train wreck engenders sympathy and that's one thing Palin shouldn't be granted.
Now that the election (barring poll fraud) is pretty much in the bag, the Repubs are now proceeding with the same tactic they used for Bill in '92.
From the election on, the drumbeat endlessly discredited Clinton's legitimacy, robbing him of any 'honeymoon' and paving the way for the endless persecution.
The Repubs have started on Obama now. The Limbaughs will now work their tribe up into a frenzy. But this time it's REALLY dangerous stuff, and they're in denial about what they're about to do to the country they ostensibly love so much.
For Christ's sake... you can't break a promise when you haven't started the damned job yet.
I'm really starting to understand why the left can't lead. They sabotage themselves before they even start.
I don't want this administration run by the fringe left anymore than I appreciated the previous one being run by the lunatic right.
I want solutions, not ideology.
To the members of the left who think they're the only ones responsible for Obama's election, yes... fuck off.
We don't want you running the chance for success into the ground in a Nader-like flame-out of ideological purity.
Schultz (the anti-tax activist) simply wants this as yet another reason to declare that, since the president (and therefore his whole administration) is illegitimate, that means that he isn't required to pay taxes.
Pretty straight-ahead. Nothing patriotic (even in the most psychotic sense) about it.
