This from the Tennesseean:
Ben Raybin was one of the 80 people who participated in the town hall session. The Vanderbilt University law student didn't get to ask his question (which was on Iraq), but he said what happened in the hall after the debate was perhaps the most informative moment of the evening.
He said John McCain stayed around for a few minutes and then quickly left, but Barack Obama stuck around for about 30 minutes afterward signing autographs and snapping photos with the participants.
Raybin said that personal touch made a strong impression on almost everyone at the debate.
Raybin said he was undecided but leaning toward Obama before the debate, but he had pretty much made up his mind now.
"It really struck a chord that Senator Obama stayed," Raybin said. "Him sticking around resonated with people. He seemed genuinely interested and curious about real people. He asked people their names and what they did."
Raybin, 23, said some people who didn't get to ask their questions in the debate actually got to ask him the questions.
"It's hard to blame Senator McCain for leaving," Raybin said. "I understand he's very busy and got a lot to do."
I thought this format was McCain's strength??
I think when a gentleman named Oliver asked a question about how the bailout would affect him, McCain started off by basically implying that Oliver wouldn't understand because he probably had never heard of Fannie and Freddie. Then he went on and said something about "saving Alan's house". Alan was the white guy who asked the previous question. There are two ways to look at this: 1. McCain FORGOT Oliver's name and just said the first one he remembered or 2. The way he implied that Oliver "probably never heard of them anyway" and he was worried about the white guy's house (assuming Oliver didn't have one).
This, on top of the "that one" comment.
I guess I am one of the ones that they will be "investigating" for donating to Obama's campaign. Ever since Sarah Palin was announced, I have donated $25 every other Friday (my payday!!) to Obama. I have worked in my $50 contribution every month by skipping a movie night and eating dinner at home. So, out of the $150 million in October, $50 of that is mine. I know of more like me BECAUSE I CALLED ALL MY FRIENDS AND ASKED THEM TO DO THE SAME THING AND THEY HAVE BEEN.
I guess actual working class AMERICANS don't count anymore according to the Repubs. Only PAC's and lobbyists are allowed to give.
SeanBlader: I'm with you. I think I'll register as a Republican for the primaries and cause some mischief.
I live in Pittsburgh which is a Dem town. My sister is a Repub. She always use to switch for the primaries (because that's where the real election is). She always used to vote for the most whacked out candidate. Her favorite was the guy whose campaign commerical showed him jumping out of an airplane naked. She said she liked to encourage these loons to always keep running because it made us(Dems)look stupid. Then, in November, she would switch back to a Repub and vote for her token Repub (if there even was one) and get trounced by the Dems.
Let's do this with Sarah. If she runs, vote for her over Rudy, Mitt, etc. It will eat up their money and make it easier for us if she is the nominee.
I would like thank Fox for doing their part for us. It's also fun to watch their heads implode.
I have to admit I don't know what to think of this. I know that I am really ticked, but it does show maturity on Obama's part to show that the campaign is over and this is one of his "can't we all just get along" moments.
I hope the Dems were at least smart enough to tell him not to campaign for any more Repubs though. They knew McCain was his lifelong friend so maybe they cut him a little slack. If he shows up in Georgia to campaign for Chambliss or help fundraise for any GOPers, the Dems will look like morons.
Being a lifelong Dem, it seems like I always wonder what the hell they are doing. Why do I have this sinking feeling in my gut that we will see 'ol Joe in the Peach State shortly??
How come I never see anything in any article that tells the difference between weather and climate? They are two totally different things.
The "main street media" didn't question Obama about Ayers enough? Are you kidding me?
What about 'Todd Palin registered in October 1995 to the Alaska Independence Party, a radical group that advocates for Alaskan secession from the United States. Besides a short period of a few months in 2000 when he changed his registration to undeclared, Todd Palin remained a registered member of AIP until July 2002 when he registered again as an undeclared voter."
Can you imagine if a DEM had a spouse who did this? We didn't even HEAR about this on main street media. I learned about this on HuffPo and I think that is all the play it got.
How about Sarah with the witch doctor? Again, not on main street media.
