*Yawn*

Glenn,

No kidding! The democrats look the other way when their guy is in office (present company excluded of course) and the republicans do the same. It's football team, us vs them, psychology. Little do they realize that their players are actually on the same team! Don't expect them to wake up anytime soon. All it takes is another administration to come along and everyone goes back to sleep.

Consult the Economists that Predicted this mess

Here's an idea. Why not consult the only economists that have consistently predicted the recessions and depressions in the 20th and 21st centuries? The Austrian Business Cycle Theory, developed by Ludwig von Mises and F. A. Hayek (Nobel Prize winner in Economics), explains why booms and busts happen as a direct result of the manipulation of the interest rate by the Central Bank (the Federal Reserve). Incidentally, we CANNOT call the American Economy - or any other - a Free Market, because the interest rates are managed by the Central Government! Interest Rate manipulation is at the heart of the problem of booms and busts.

For those that are intellectually curious and want to learn how the government creates inflation by setting the interest rate, thereby reducing the buying power of those members of society that depend on a stable currency (ie the poor, retirees, etc), read Murray N. Rothbard's "Economic Depressions: Their Cause and Cure. http://mises.org/tradcycl/econdepr.asp

For additional information, read the short text, "The Case Against the Fed" http://mises.org/books/fed.pdf

and "The Mystery of Banking" http://mises.org/Books/mysteryofbanking.pdf

There are plenty of resources here (http://mises.org/story/3128)

for critical thinkers.

These brave economists dare to question the wisdom of central banking, the one institution above all else that benefits the State, its wars of agression, imperialism, etc. Perhaps this is why they continue to be marginalized despite an eerily prophetic ability to predict the busts (ie depressions).

Happy studying.

Original article: The dumbing down of the GOP

Boobus Americanus

The same reason that Democrats aren't disgusted that their party nominated a man that authored the precursor to the Patriot Act under the Clinton Administration or that pushed through drug laws that made crack 100 times more punishable than coke. (Biden) Or a presidential candidate that wants to INCREASE the size of the military by 60,000 army and 27,000 marines and pull the army from Iraq just to send them to Afghanistan to fight another horrible war. Or who has no intention of closing JUST ONE of the 700+ military bases in over 130 countries. The Democrats are JUST AS PATHETIC as the Republicans. Boobus Americanus FTW!

Not for Long!

Obama, Biden and McCain ALL VOTED FOR THE BILL. :) hahahahaha! Bipartisan "cooperation" at its finest!

All Palin has to do

is point out that Biden:

1) authored the Patriot Act in its original form during the Clinton Administration

2) was the chief senate architect of the federal anti-drug laws that created mandatory minimum sentences for drug possession and the 100-1 sentencing disparity for crack vs powder cocaine

3) voted to bamboozle the public by giving the billionaire banksters a bailout

once again, democrats are falling lock stock and barrel for the same old "lesser of two evils" argument. When are they going to realize that the government is the enemy of every American? The government steals via taxation-theft, enslaves via the draft / conscription, tortures and spies. Like a battered woman, we beg for more. PATHETIC!

No Reason for Bush/Cheney to stay in power

when Obama/Biden or McCain/Palin are simply two sides to the same coin. The oligarchic, bureaucratic, permanent State.

Do either candidates address the root cause of the financial crisis? The privately owned Federal Reserve which creates inflation by arbitrarily fixing the price of money via the interest rate?

They both support a bailout for Goldman Sachs and co (Interesting that Paulson was once the CEO of G.S.)

Do either of them want to pack up our 130 military bases around the world? (Obama, the "Peace candidate" actually wants to increase troop levels by 65K army and 27K marines!!!)

The sooner that we realize that the parasitic State is our enemy, the better. However, I won't hold my breath.

thank obama

you can thank biden for authoring the patriot act and obama for voting to reauthorize it. and what has obama said about these abuses? Hmm? NADA. Yet you'll still vote for him. He can do anything and you'll vote for him because he's a Democrat. PATHETIC. You are part of the problem. PERIOD.

Protest Dems

Considering that Biden proudly authored the original Patriot Act back during the Clinton Administration, perhaps the groups should have been protesting the Democratic National Convention...

from Glenn's Sun. Aug 24 article...

"I drafted a terrorism bill after the Oklahoma City bombing. And the bill John Ashcroft sent up was my bill." - Joe Biden

It also amazes me that most Obama supporters don't know that Obama wants to increase the size of the Military.

"Barack Obama supports plans to increase the size of the Army by 65,000 soldiers and the Marines by 27,000 troops." - barakobama.com/issues/defense/

I refuse to continue to vote myself into slavery. My abstention may not matter, but at least I will know that I will not have supported another supporter of the merchants of death.
