Maybe the insurance companies *are* trying to help -

Just not how we'd like.

Not only can't I afford basic maintenance like pap smears, etc., I can't afford to get basic things like have cavities filled, or get crowns after a root canal (I've ended up having three teeth removed because I couldn't afford the root canal at the time).

And now, my lovely insurance is refusing payment on visits to my doctor because in addition to my asthma, we also talked about managing my weight, and they don't cover weight issues. Never mind that a better weight is correlated with better health.

That's ok, I can't afford food because of my medical bills, so in a sense the insurance company does have a weight program, it's just not the one I'd like.

Heck, maybe the whole system is a creative way of forcing natural selection onto the population, for the betterment of the species.

Those wacky insurance companies, always putting our interests at heart ;-)

Original article: Gospel according to Judas

Volaar -

I just wanted to tell you I like your posts. My husband (PhD, philosophy of religion, UVA) and I came to our individual attitudes of "theist agnosticism" from different directions (me from science, he from a call to the priesthood). We have both found different aspects of your posts to represent these complex issues well.

Thanks!
