[Read more letters about this article: Here]Do you know A-Rod hasn't used steroids?
I don't. In his case, it's really more an issue of character for me. Bonds can hide whether or not he used, but he can't hide what a jerk he's been his entire career. Even though I was a huge Laker fan, I feel the same way about Kareem, depite his recent attempts to clean up his image. Side: I once saw Kareem, in response to the parroted questions of how the weather was at his altitude, respond by spitting on a kid's head and saying that it was raining. That's bad. Bonds is worse.
But I'll add that if it comes out that there is even circumstantial evidence that A-Rod doped, he'll be on my s**t list as well. As a former bat boy in the Padres farm system (early 80's), I saw some unbelievable pure hitters up close and personal at the very start of their careers (John Kruk and Kevin McReynolds come to mind). I never heard or saw a single trace of that kind of cheating (aside from the Ding-Dongs in Kruk's pockets) - just some good natural hitters. Some of them may have used later, but not then. I have no tolerance for anyone even associated with doping.
