DiFi: Stealth Republican #1

Dianne Feinstein is truly an embarrassment to all progressive San Franciscans. It's simply hard to believe she actually ever came from here.

As a long time resident, all I can say is: I'm really sorry!

And if you really want to get sick: read or hear the gushing things DiFi had to say about Condi Rice at her Secretary of State confirmation hearings. Bleuuahhch!

P.S. (heh, heh) And both of them set off my gaydar like an air-raid siren, I'll have you know.

Al Gore: The "nice" plutocrat

I wonder what kind of carbon footprint his personal fortune has? I bet it's bigger than yours and mine.

Sorry, but no poverty = no charity balls, and no prizes, and no funny little statues either.

Feats of Republican gravity-defying magic

Waiting for the other shoe to drop... And another shoe... And another...

Oh well, I guess we're all resolved to wait out the clock until 2009.

Bummer.

Aaack!

Listening to The Decider is decidedly cringe inducing. Reading his utterances in written form isn't any better. The fact that this man is in the oval office is just embarrassing beyond belief. And the fact that the beltway and punditocracy extend decorum and keep a straight face about this travesty is simply horrifying.

That white lexus says it all!

Refinance? Well, if interest rates are dropping it might make sense - as long as (one would think) you're turning around and reinvesting the sum back into your property to raise its value. Yes? Isn't that what one is supposed to do? As a long-standing renter, real estate isn't on my radar, so when I found out that most people were taking the money from refinancing and blowing it on stuff...

...Well, I thought of Thorstein Veblen lying in that coffin jerking and convulsing with laughter. "HA-HA-HA-HA-HA!"

Yup. That's what I thought. *tsk*

Original article: Is it still Bush vs. Gore?

The "good" plutocrat and the "bad" plutocrat:

How chummy.

Original article: Is it still Bush vs. Gore?

The Good, The Bad and The Ugly:

Hmmm... I guess that makes dead old man, Nobel the ugly plutocrat.

P.S. patg: Consider it done if you'd like, dear.

Original article: Ron Paul is a baby elephant

What do Ron Paul's followers want?

... A Lynden LaRouche that (heh,heh) doesn't cause people's eyes to roll.

"When innovation has greatly increased the complexity of..."? Aaaaak!!

Innovation, heh, my ass.

Should read: "when greed has greatly increased the complexity of achieving beneficial solutions".

Original article: Craig Venter is the future

Oops, we did it again.

Just like the European Enlightenment and the rise of modern capitalism that - along with the consequent industrial revolution, 'n all sorts of other incredible postmodern stuff - has now brought us global warming; so genetic engineering will bring us the key to surviving it all (and ourselves). Cool-a-rama-rama. Between botox and Monsanto, we're going to be forever pretty and round-up ready... I'm ready. *meow*

Original article: Craig Venter is the future

And, of course...

...Just as long as modern plumbing gets to come along.

Original article: Craig Venter is the future

But, Oh well - look on the bright side:

Hobson's choice: damned if you do, damned if you don't. It's either the hut w/ the dirt floor Camille Paglia warned us about, or plutonium mysteriously making it's way into your nice hot bath - what would you rather have. Yes, stem cells and zygotes must die! And American the horrendous WILL LIVE!!!

Original article: Craig Venter is the future

Ooops.

I meant: "have?" (I forget question marks a lot.)

Whew! My grammar bad again

I meant: "its" the possessive. BTW - Plutonium or cold hut, what do you want?

Original article: The Dodd and Biden show

No big Biden fan but...

He sure gets an A+ for shooting down Hillary Clinton's bizarre rebuttal - her vote to declare the Iranian Revolutionary Guard a terrorist organization actually put pressure on Iran baloney. Biden called her on it; good for him.

Nope, no slack for Page.

I'm not against luxury or fabulous weddings, but the bottom line is that our conspicuous consumption is the very engine which is destroying (or changing) our planet, and rich people's conspicuous consumption simply has more impact than a regular Joe's. Just being inconsistent is the least of it.

Au contraire, flyover52

nkennedy absolutely gets the point. As a matter of fact, nkennedy does a great job of hitting the nail right on the head. It is you, dear person, who is deluded.

Sunday, December 9, 2007 12:31 PM

Nancy Pelosi too, huh?

Whew! After reading that Washington Post article, I'm reallly hot under the collar.

Am I surprised? Not really, but this is upsetting nevertheless. I mean, what can one expect from a politician (Pelosi) who simply purchased her Congressional seat.

You say "purchased"? Yes, that's what I said - purchased from the Phil-John Burton/Willie Brown political machine after Phil's wife, Sala Burton, who had been elected (appointed is a better word) after Phil's death (nepotism?) died herself. But, how did Nancy actually purchase it? With money - her's and her rich friend's, which you silly little Salon reader simply don't have... *tsk*

Shame on Pelosi and the Democrats. They make me sick.

Original article: Follow the bouncing tapes

God, one can only love Dana Perino.

Of ALL the Bushie minions, the only one that comes across as anything like sympathetic to me is Ms. Perino. Like I mean, my God, Bay of Pigs? Isn't that in the country of Sumatra on the island of Indonesia? She is just so fabulously hapless, and well... So unintentionally more honest than any of the rest, you cynical press corpse. What a hoot!

"Contract by an average 1 percent...Blah,blah,blah,blah".

If people like Dean Baker and Paul Krugman, and quite a few others are correct, the straights are a little more dire than that, and I think this is just the beginning.

There may be two silver linings in this grey cloud: first, when blame is assigned for all this, it is going to go to the Republicans and everything Republican; and secondly, there is a better than good chance we will end up with the Executive branch and both houses of Congress filled with Democrats (I know, they're not so great either). It's a crying shame we don't have the Warren court anymore.

Wednesday, December 12, 2007 07:25 AM

He ain't heavy, he's my (eh hem) brother.

Sorry, but I'm finding this all quite amusing. When the Republican presidential candidates are debating the accurate genealogy of mythical entities...: Jesus is the half-brother of Lucifer who's the brother of Mary's rapist and Mohamed’s FedEx delivery dude, Gabriel, and Ariel is really the midget angel/brother that nobody wants to talk about... Well, this digression is worthy of Republican perdition, No?

Original article: Dogma days

"I substitute art and nature for God -- the grandeur of man and the vast mystery of the universe."

Camille, dear, you've stopped taking your lithium pills again, haven't you? Your lovely gold and purple prose is going maroon, hon. And you're lifting off with both your retro-rocket thrusters. Yes, it's pill time again, sweetness.
