Interesting, or not...
[Read the article: The return of Larry Craig?]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]This is just another stain, another blot and another straw on the Republican camel's back.
I personally hope Craig retains his seat. That way there will be a greater chance of seeing a Democratic senator from Idaho come election time.
...And of course, that is the reason most Republicans want Craig to resign.

Hey, no problemsky, man...
[Read the article: Credit card companies swoop on subprime borrowers]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]...These credit card issuers can "externalize" their losses on the backs of the taxpayers (isn't that always the case). Screw us coming, screw us going. That's a good deal you don't need no fancy computers 'n algieyogurt for.
Capitalism is our friend, remember that.
-
Title for the new book?
[Read the article: National Review's new tough guy, Mark Hemingway]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Heh,heh - howabout "Neo-cons, Cojones and Emergence of The John Wayne Republic"
Just kidding.
-
What Hillary Clinton bizarrely believes
[Read the article: Various items]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]No, in this cast I think your dead wrong (which for you, in my opinion, is amazingly rare). Another terrorist attack and the craven American public would run right back to the sickening daddy culture they so happily voted for twice.
OK, technically the first time around Gore won. But enough voted for Bush to give one a solid insight into this country's true demeanor. I'm no Clinton fan, but in this case she's right.
-
Just the Republicans?
[Read the article: "Broken Government"]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]"People should not vote for any Republican, because they're dangerous, dishonest and self-serving"... Huh?
As far as I'm concerned, you can say the same damned thing about the Democrats, who cravenly capitulated to virtually everything the Bushies have done.
The problem runs far deeper than the two political parties. It's Capitalism and everything that goes with it. Just take a look at the personal incomes of our Senators and the rest of the Congressional membership.
Lincoln was wrong. He should have said: "of the rich, by the rich, for the rich"... And the rest of us suckers can easily be bought off with subprime mortgages and SUVs.
-
Whoa! Dude! I want some of what's in your pipe!!
[Read the article: Earth first, says Osama bin Castro]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]But hey, relax. Once upon a time gazillions of years ago, the planet Earth was ruled by archaeobacteria and had a (sniff, sniff) methane atmosphere. Then came this little feller called cyanobacteria that began to proliferate and "pollute" the darned place with oxygen, and then... Well you know the story.
So take a deep breath (toke) and relax... Relax... Relax.
P.S. By the way, ole' Osami Been Laid's latest vid, he was lookin' kinda' green.

Silver lining in a grey cloud, maybe.
[Read the article: Season of the ARM reset]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]With the terrible price we (and especially, of course, the Iraqi civilians) have had to pay for all the horrendous mistakes the American government has made since 9/11, I finally see a chance to alter the seemingly inexorable course towards greater reactionary conservatism - that even the Clinton years were not able to stop - since Ronald Reagan's presidency.
As the polls are beginning to reveal, Americans are now waking up and smelling the coffee. A nasty recession, or possibly a depression will only make that coffee smell better. It's sad that it always has to be this way.
-
Yup, it's that frothy greenspeak.
[Read the article: Invasion Greenspan]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Hmmm, Greenie disowning his past? Maybe our economy is in a bigger hole than any of us thought.
-
What were we thinking?
[Read the article: The energy-efficient chill out]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]We weren't.

Recomendation:
[Read the article: What happens to private contractors who kill Iraqis? Maybe nothing]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Read Jeremy Scahill's "Blackwater". Excellent book. Chilling. It made me ashamed to be an American.

Great post and many thoughtful letters
[Read the article: Alicia Silverstone's naked PETA ad]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]captainlarab deserves three red stars. I know as a meat eater (trying to cut down)that if you're really worried about global warming vegetarianism is a very good place to start.

DiFi is a Republican.
[Read the article: Dianne Feinstein, symbol of the worthless Beltway Democrat]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]I repeat: DiFi is a Republican. Got it?
-
Correction (elaberation) to my previous letter:
[Read the article: Dianne Feinstein, symbol of the worthless Beltway Democrat]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]DiFi is a stealth Republican.

Go Barney Frank!
[Read the article: A mixed message on subprime from the IMF]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]I just finished reading an article in The American Prospect by Rober Kuttner called 'Bubble Economy'. One of the best summaries I've read thus far about our current situation.
http://www.prospect.org/cs/articles?article=the_bubble_economy
Sadly, I think our problem runs far deeper than just "the economy" and is indicative of our cultures problem with the form of valuation of "personal worth". Right now, as always, it's done with stuff (money, fancy objects to show-off, power over others), and everything else that's been pointed out to us by Thornstein Veblen.
Capitalism is nothing but a cross between a ponze scheme and a poker game. And no matter what happens: few win, most lose.

Go Barney Frank! (#2)
[Read the article: A mixed message on subprime from the IMF]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Previous letter writer liked the same article. I posted my remark before reading other peoples letters.

Can't see the forest for the trees...
[Read the article: We paved paradise]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]...Er-um, or maybe it's can't see the parking lot for the cars. Well, if anything this article illustrates: It's not only big corporations that are guilty of externalizing their losses.
-
Yes! Raise the curtain high.
[Read the article: Waxman takes a shot at Blackwater]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]I take heart in stevio's letter. Scandal fatique? Maybe not when more Americans ("Blackwater USA, what?")find out about this, they'll be just as scandalized. This is so bad on so many different levels it's sickening.
P.S. Go Henry Waxman!! Thank you Jeremy Scahill.
-
"Our team"? *snort*
[Read the article: Blackwater and "Magic"]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]This post is cringe inducing.
-
Wow! Just simply wow!!
[Read the article: The 9/11 backlash against women]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]"MensAction.com blog entry about how 'The phallic symbol of America has been cut off ... and at its base was a large smoldering vagina, the true symbol of the American culture.'"
Dephallicated penises? Smoldering vaginas (sounds like a punk rock grrrrl group)? Whew! Is Salvador Dali really dead?
-
I like the "T"
[Read the article: How did the T get in LGBT?]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]L is for lovable,G is for Great,B is for beautiful and T is for totally terrific!! Let's keep the T, OK?
-
Life will kill you...
[Read the article: Life will kill you]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]so make sure you eat all you fruits and vegetables, and try to be as happy as you can.
My five easy steps to mastering life:
You're born.
You eat.
You live.
You shit.
You die.

Salon readers rock!
[Read the article: Stop your sobbing]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]I deserve a prize. I actually read this (drivel) article and most of the letters in response to it. I have a new found respect for the Salon.com readership.
-
Wonderful response, Susan
[Read the article: Why the T in LGBT is here to stay]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]This piece is an absolutely great, wonderful, thoughtful and funny response to John Arivosis's article.
From now on I'm going to mix-up the letters, as in: "TLBG" - then I won't have to worry about getting it (heh, heh) straight.
-
God is dead 'cause Mr. Goddess couldn't take it anymore!
[Read the article: Proud atheists]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Wishywashy, I:
On a good day, I'm religious.
On a normal day, I'm an agnostic
On a bad day, I'm an atheist.
But, most of the time, I just don't give a shit.
Like my favorite bumper-sticker: "I'm a militant agnostic. I don't know and neither do you."
