Original article: Real inconvenient truths

Bipolar to full fledged psychotic

I was the one who asked Paglia about Jean Baudrillard; I simply couldn't resist. Gawd! I should've signed the letter John Smith. Better yet, I shouldn't have bothered posing the question in the first place.

Dear Salon, If you're bringing back Paglia you might as well complete the gag by bringing back Anne Lamott and David Horowitz too. Apart from her weird religianity, at least Lamott's politics are consistent with my own and she seems to have some claim to sanity, bless her little dread locks.

Hugs n' kisses

Freedom of speech is not engraved in stone.

Joan, I agree 100 percent with everything you have just said here.

It is important to remember: "rights" are not engraved in stone, otherwise - as Thomas Jefferson indicated - we wouldn't need to be "eternally vigilant" in maintaining the ones we have.

Furthermore, it is also important to remember: "rights", like freedom of expression, are only implied and only relevant to the current social mores. Walk down the street nude (arguably a form of free expression), then come back and tell all of us how much freedom of expression you actually have. [personally, I think every public place should be clothing optional]

Some of the things that come out of Don Imus's mouth are odious and vulgar and much worse than public nudity. It's way overdue he went away.

Re: buffeted

A lettered posted anonymously earlier contends the word buffeted was used incorrectly. This is the dictionary definition:

buf•fet:

–noun

1. a blow, as with the hand or fist.

2. a violent shock or concussion.

–verb (used with object)

3. to strike, as with the hand or fist.

4. to strike against or push repeatedly: The wind buffeted the house.

5. to contend against; battle.

–verb (used without object)

6. to struggle with blows of hand or fist.

7. to force one's way by a fight, struggle, etc.

I think numbers 5 and 7 would fit the way in which the word buffeted was correctly used here.

Original article: Welcome to the Greenbelt

An answer to the last sentence of this post.

"How could anyone behold these two versions of the world and not be inspired to make it work?"

Recreational drugs and self delusion should help. Or just look at it from another angle: It's ALL nature in its horrifying transformational glory - including the parking lots - "natural" being a moot point and "unnatural" just a musty old opinion.

What an idea!

Condoleezza Rice as Nurse Ratched. That's really, really scary.

Best Scooter headline

CNN can be clever. There website headline for this news item: "Scooter Skates". Cute, huh? Just like everything else the Bush Administration has done.

Mother Goose, the physicist

How many miles is it to Babylon?--

Threescore miles and ten.

Can I get there by candle-light?--

Yes, and back again.

If your heels are nimble and light,

You may get there by candle-light.

It was just a massage...

Original article: Why David Vitter matters

Diapers?

Margo St. James, founder of the prostitutes union C.O.Y.O.T.E (Call Off Your Old Tired Ethics), once said that Republicans are far kinkier than Democrats. I think she must be right.

Vitter in diapers? That's kinky.

Der Homeland

Whatever happened to words like "our country" or "domestic" or "America"? Homeland. That word makes me cringe.

Greatest artist of the 20th century?

Hm. Maybe. But I think I'll put my money on Marcel Duchamp.

A more resilient Der Homeland?

Homeland? Aaaaak!!!

Hey Obama, how about a "more resilient United States of America?

Homeland: an insidious meme that needs to be buried.

Original article: Cheerful boos for Hillary

They booed Kucinich?

For stating what the YearlyKoslings know themselves to be the absolute truth about the Democratic Party?

At first I was surprised. But then on second though, for a group of people who (Am I generalizing too much?) have embraced Arianna Huffington as there own... Hm, not too surprising after all.

An element of Zhenli Ye Gon story that everyone seems to have missed.

Did you know that Zhenli Ye Gon was a naturalized Mexican citizen? Do you know how hard it is to become a naturalized Mexican citizen? Nearly impossible.

There's way more to this story of which I doubt we'll ever know the real truth, or anything close.

If this is true...

Hurray!! Now I can start reading Paul Krugman again. 'Cause there ain't no other reason to go to their crappy website; of which I rarely do anymore.

A pathetic stalling tactic.

Hemming 'n hawing 'n diddling 'n stalling. All the Preznit has to do is hold his breath.

It's like that old joke: Walking down the hall, The Shrub saw a sign that said "Wet Floor", and he did...

Hold his breath? Maybe he will. On second thought, then there is Cheney... Never mind.

P.S. AAAAAK!

You mean sort of like Woody Woodpecker?

Gonzales: The archetypal toadie

Master's little Igor. The only thing Fredo lacks is the Peter Lorrie voice to complete the effect.

I truly hope every Congress person is reading Glenn Greenwald's latest entry - time to kick butt.

Original article: Quote of the Day

"He did not" *snort*. Makes me think of the Mama's and the Papa's song "Monday, monday".

Monday Monday, so good to me,

Monday Monday, it was all I hoped it would be

Oh Monday morning, Monday morning couldn't guarantee

That Monday evening you would still be here with me.

Monday Monday, can't trust that day,

Monday Monday, sometimes it just turns out that way

Oh Monday morning, you gave me no warning of what was to be

Oh Monday Monday, how could you leave and not take me.

Every other day, every other day,

Every other day of the week is fine, yeah

But whenever Monday comes, but whenever Monday comes

You can find me cryin' all of the time

Monday Monday, so good to me,

Monday Monday, it was all I hoped it would be

Oh Monday morning, Monday morning couldn't guarantee

That Monday evening you would still be here with me.

Every other day, every other day,

Every other day of the week is fine, yeah

But whenever Monday comes, but whenever Monday comes

You can find me cryin' all of the time

Monday Monday, ...

Again, Republican stands for Hypocrite w/ a capital H

It just goes on and on and on... Shadenfreude? You betcha. After the last seven years and what's been done post-911!?

BTW, I'm having a great Tuesday! Better than yesterday with the Fredo news. The visuals the Craig matter supplies (bending over smelly, dirty toilets: *suck, suck, suck*) are more grotesque and compelling, and the "sound" of thousands of Idaho jaws hitting the ground, oh so satisfying.
