This is certainly no big surprise to me as there were plenty of neo-nazis in the Navy while I was on active duty from 1973 to 1977. I must also point out that Tim McVeigh was an honorably discharged US Army vet. Those with racist attitudes will have them reinforced in the military and will be able to network with their philosophical brethren. Consequently it is quite alarming so many active duty servicemen and women and veterans have a superiority attitude toward those who have a liberal view of democracy. These men and women have no idea as to the true nature of a democracy and are simply jingoists who have a very warped view of the US, one that is Fundamentalist and white.
My stepdaughter went though the same thing only in NYC. Eventually she left for Seattle, but has never been able to support herself for long on just her acting, it always required a "day job" and most of them sucked.
My suggestion is to get some gigs in regional theaters so you can gain experience in your craft and build your network.
Don't let the door hit ya where the good Lord split ya.
I’ve dealt with this twice in the past. I had a former student send me racist e-mails so I simply contacted the HR department of his employer. He came very close to being fired, but was given a second chance. He should be glad I was not the HR manager.
The second incident involved my ex-wife who worked for a school system. I contacted the superintendent of the system and she was fired.
I do not put up with bigots, it’s that simple.
Yes we do need to be concerned about more domestic terrorism. Beck, Rush, O’Reilly, et al are stirring up the wing nuts just like they did prior to the OKC bombing. I certainly do not want to look out my window to see another column of smoke rising up from downtown as I did on April 19th, 1995.
You need to know Michael Steele is the same one who falsely claims the VA Dept is encouraging vets to commit suicide. Go to: http://www.politifact.com/truth-o-meter/statements/2009/aug/25/michael-steele/rnc-chairman-michael-steele-says-va-has-manual-enc/
The dogma spewed by Terry Jeffery and others of his ilk is not Christian. Those of us who follow Christ's teachings must take back the term Christian from these hate mongers and cleanse it of their venom.
Since allegations of GW’s cocaine abuse are legendary this story also helps to explain his behavior. One can assume that since his drug and alcohol abstinence GW “needed” an outlet. He subsequently found this outlet in the form of the invasion of Iraq! Good for him, bad for 100,000 + others.
So they are home schooling their kids, what next home surgery when they need it? Home “schooling”, or indoctrination as it should be called, has no place in a democracy. It is just another example of teaching being looked upon as something less than a profession. You are not only doing a disservice to your children, but in reality are guilty of child neglect.

“If people can't home school in a democracy, then what type of a democracy do they live in? A democracy should demand the right, if not necessarily the respect of people like you, to home school. We are, after all, free to choose our own path to the American dream as long as we don't hurt others.”
Those being hurt are the children as they will not be prepared to enter society. It is also important to note public education is the corner stone of democracy. Neither private education nor home indoctrination are concerned with democracy.
As to the question “Are you a medical doctor?” no. You appear to think the only real doctorates belong to those with an MD which shines a light on your narrow thinking.

“A free democracy, actually we should be talking about a country that values liberty, allows home schooling, freedom of thought and diversity. Diversity is part of home schooling. What I want for my kids may well not be what you want for yours. Real liberty allows for that and real liberals really should respect it.”
This has nothing to do with diversity, but everything about indoctrinating children. You have obviously never spent any time in the Deep South and their “Christian Academies” that are nothing but training grounds for future KKK members.

“I'd suggest too that Islamofascism is probably more of an immediate threat to this country than the KKK and I also highly doubt that there are lots of KKK indoctrination centers in private schooling in today's South. Please give evidence.”
Your post is clear evidence of your bigotry. As to evidence of KKK indoctrination in the “Christian” Academies in the deep south, all one has to do is examine the curriculum and the attitudes of the faculty and the parents of the students. It is self evident.
Any review of Ayn Rand and/or Objectivism should include Michael Shermer’s description of her and her followers as the “Unlikeliest Cult in History” at http://www.2think.org/02_2_she.shtml. Another important point is the call by her and her followers to destroy the Constitution of the US and replace it with a document that would formally turn over control of the US to the multinational corporations. Anyone who calls him/herself a patriot and follows Rand is a blatant hypocrite.
