Just where do people come up with this nonsense?

“They're still hiding the fact that the VA Tech killer was a homosexual, and they routinely hide the fact that the majority of mass murderers are liberals. (one way to tell, they almost never talk about the "who" in Salon) In fact, for the most heinous crimes, there is almost always homosexual connection. The media is covering that fact up for obvious reasons.”

Reallynow,

Just where do people come up with this nonsense?

I’ll give you some reality. Tim McVeigh was an honorably discharged combat veteran as am I. What scares the living crap out of me, there are many more McVeighs out there than you can imagine. BTW, where were you at 9:00 AM central time April 19, 1995? I was in OKC watching the smoke rise up from downtown as one of these “patriots” carried out his agenda.

Thirty-five million dollars!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Let’s just say I’m a professor at a public university. Id’ rather not say which one since in effect they are all “guilty” of exorbitant tuition increases. The primary reason for the increases is the decrease in state support for higher education. The ongoing Republican chant of “cut taxes” has restricted the ability of state governments to support higher education due to the ever increasing fixed costs, such as prisons, faced by state governments. The current economic meltdown has also resulted in lower revenues for the state, so in order to reduce the budget cuts at my university tuition will go up to $300 per undergraduate credit hour in the fall. To my colleagues and me, that is an outrage.

However, I’d also like to point out the flagship school for the state has just hired a new coach at $35,000,000.00 for eight years. Thirty-five million dollars!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Now tell me with a straight face we really think education is important in the US rather than cheap weekend entertainment.

Grad School without a doubt

Cary is correct, go to grad school. You can find another way to pay off your debts without selling your soul to the military. Paying off the loans is temporary, even if it takes 10 or 20 years. PTSD lasts a lifetime.

Just sign me

RE: Backroom schemes

"Don't honor this scheme with a further thought. This is what transpired back in the Twenties when organized crime thrived in both government and the private sector."

Where have you been the past eight years? The Bush administration was a criminal enterprise as was the Wall Street crowd and their cronies.

"Burris' appointment was accepted by the public, but not accepted by the backroom sleazebags who aspire to control our Nation. Don't let them do it."

Prove your statement, otherwise it is simply the rant of one individual.

Original article: Bristol Palin has a boy

People Magazine

I’m surprised no one has commented on Palin-Johnson’s cashing in on the birth of their son by selling his pictures to People Magazine for a reported $300,000.00. If this is not evidence of their poor upbringing I do not know of a better example. Yes they are a good example of white trash and a good example of the offspring of yuppies.

WWJD

To use a worn out phrase, but What Would Jesus Do?

It’s interesting to me that last Sunday’s lesson included the parable from Mathew of Jesus praising those who helped the poor, lame, imprisoned etc. telling them they had helped him. He was also condemning those who did not help these same people.

On a personal note, I’m a disabled combat vet. While I was able to overcome a lot of obstacles with the help of others eventually earning a doctorate, I could just as easily ended up just another homeless vet. Did you know 25% of the homeless men are combat vets and that number is on the rise as soldiers return from Iraq and Afghanistan?

Caribou Barbie

God willing this will be the last hurrah for both McBush and Caribou Barbie. After their defeat McSame will retire from the Senate and Caribou Barbie will either be removed from office or at least loose re-election as Gov. in a landslide.

They will then simply become footnotes in political history.

absolutely outrageous

This is absolutely outrageous. When I learned Brian Williams could call Limbaugh and get on his show I quit watching NBC Nightly News. Just another example of censorship by the far right.

I looked all over the MSNBC site to find somewhere to send a complaint, but could find nothing. If anyone has an e-mail address for someone with some horsepower at MSNBC or NBC please post it.

Rolling Thunder

Garrison,

This is the first time I can remember disagreeing with you. Like most of the members of Rolling Thunder I too am a Vietnam Vet, disabled to boot. I’m not a member of Rolling Thunder, but have known several, particularly in the PTSD Vet Group in which I participated while in Nebraska. Not all of us agree politically as many of us look at GW with contempt and consider him a deserter. However, I do respect the members of Rolling Thunder and their work protecting the families of fallen soldiers, sailors, airmen, and marines from the likes of Fred Phelps and his “church”. You need to take a closer look at the group and not just let your first impression narrow your vision.

"He's a little crazy."

No he's a lot "crazy". The short answer is simple.

RUN!

The long answer could easily fill a book. He has demonstrated a serious lack of judgment in addition to leaving you "out of the loop" in a major life changing (possibly life ending) decision. Cut your losses and leave. Take it from someone who has been there. War is not a glorious adventure or any other Victorian duty bound BS. He will not come back. His body may return, but even if he is alive he, his soul or core, will be irrevocably altered and not for the better. If he tends to be a loose cannon now, combat will only make it much more severe.
