I'm looking forward

to an extensive national discussion on the long-term effects of Post Traumatic Stress Syndrom on torture victims and the risks inherent in putting such a victim in charge of the world's largest nuclear arsenal.

Original article: Quote of the day

Translation:

There will be no permanent Republican majority.

@EMStoveken

I don't think we'll have to worry about Obama's handlers backing off. Obama is getting a lot of coaching from Senator Richard Durbin (D-IL). Durbin has stood strong against Bush/Cheney from day 1. Durbin never sold us out and I think he's itching to take this fight right to McCain.

The Democrats as a whole

will have nobody but themselves to blame for their own destruction. This election should be a "gimme" given the unprecedented fucktartedness of the Bush admin. But each day the pissing contest continues and the Dems get closer to doing what they do best, snatching defeat from the jaws of victory.

As an independent voter I am on the brink of saying "fuck 'em both". Maybe the Republicans deserve 4 more years in the presidency so they can live with the shitty mess Bush has created with nobody to blame but themselves. I figure the stress of the job ought to kill McCain in the first month. Four more years might be what it takes to drive a stake into the heart of the foul beast that is the Republican Party. Tea Bag me Elephantman.

Foster's victory

and Oberweiss' perennial failures say as much about the chaotic state of the Illinois Republican Party as anything. These were the folks who ran Alan Keyes against Obama in the 2004 Senate race after the original winner of the Republican Primary pulled out of the race. This was after it was revealed that his wife divorced him, in part, because he wanted to take her to "swingers" parties. No surprise from the party of family values.

Anyway, the hillbilly bible-thumping repubs in Southern Illinois and the cosmopolitan republicans in the Chicago area have been waging an entertaining culture war on each other for years. Oberweiss seems to be the only one both sides can agree to, despite his record of abysmal failure in politics.

Rather than intellectual hairsplittling

over the message and intention of the Obama photo, try this test: Does it look like, smell like, taste like shit?

They pulled 4000 troops

out of Bagdad this week and the carnage is already escalating. Bad news for McCain.

Still, at least its nice to know that someone can run a budget surplus. Too bad its at our expense.

The level of fraud must be staggering.

It's only a matter of time

before Hillary's minions are accusing Barak HUSSEIN Obama of hiding in a spider hole.

Completely Staged

I believe that this incident was completely staged by the Clinton campaign. They needed to get the "Obama's only popular because he's black" message out to rile up the racist sentiment that is always lurking so close to the surface in this country. Gerry stepped up, got the job done and took a bullet for the boss. Now Clinton can sing the White Trash Anthem of Reverse Descrimination. Pathetic in the extreme.

Gerry's explanation on the Today Show came off as seriously delusional.

@JEBLDMM

You say:

"I'll believe that they are delusions when you show me another candidate for President who has gotten this far with as little leadership experience as Barack Obama."

Easy, her name is Hillary Clinton.

Ferraro's comments

also conveniently ignore the fact that the press can make a hero or villan out of whomever they choose, regardless of race. That her first instinct was to attribute his success to his skin color shows how her sorry old mind works. Of course, that assumes that she spoke out of instinct and not as part of a larger strategy.

@Asher Steinberg

Getting as much mileage out of the skin color thing as you can? Well rest easy Mr. Steinberg, the Klan and the Aryan Nation are pulling Hillary too.

When Bush starts

waxing romantically about war, it's a sure sign that some more folks are gonna die. Probably Iranians. What better way to get folks minds off of the economy?

Friday, March 14, 2008 12:48 PM

Expect to hear

this theme repeated right through election day. This will be the real test of the American Electorate and what they have learned over the past 8 years.

Friday, March 14, 2008 02:15 PM

Thank You Mrs. Ferraro!

It took 27 years but you finally gave me something good to say about Ronald Reagan. Again, Thanks!

@joejoe

Your buddies over at newsmax.com are regular supporters of Ann Coulter. Shouldn't be surprised that the story is BS.

Monday, March 17, 2008 02:35 PM

@gabbyone

Great, but none of that text supports Hillary's assertion:

"I remember landing under sniper fire," she recalled. She and her retinue were then sent "running with our heads down to our vehicles."

Wednesday, March 19, 2008 11:55 AM

@joejoe

Maybe you should address your complaints to the DNC since they handle that sort of thing. Obama does not decide whose votes get counted in Florida and Michigan. You are attributing to Obama more power than he actually has.

@kufir77

"Say, hypothetically, that we obtain definitive proof that Iran is aiding AlQaeda, with funding and training. And I mean definitive proof, whatever it may be, that leaves no doubt about it. What do we do? Have the UN impose sanctions? Go in there? What do you all think?"

I think the world would, rightly, laugh in our faces. We shot our collective credibility by lying about Iraq. Furthermore, we ain't got the troops to do shit to Iran. Sure, we can bomb them a few times and they can make Iraq more of a living hell than it already is, for the next 100 years.

Original article: Scooter Libby disbarred

Ol' Scooter

is also the "lawyer" who negotiated Mark Rich's pardon with the Clinton administration. Classy guy.

Like most decisions

regarding the War On Terrorism, the pace of the troop drawdown will be decided by domestic political agendas with no concern for the well-being of the troops.

Got to give Condi credit

at least she apologized which is as much accountability as one could dream of from this administration.
