It was the Palin pick that forced McCain into turning on the press.

Everything seemed to be just ducky between McCain and the media until he chose Palin. He had to sequester Palin from the media so they couldn't determine how vacuous she really is. McCain's toadies convinced him that he could use the same contemptuous tactics Bush uses towards the media without repercussions. He was wrong.

All I can add

is that it is a pretty smooth letter. The big scary black man must have had a lot of practice carving backwards B's into flesh. Happens all the time.

Original article: Palin 2012 begins

In 2004 all the gleeful Repubs

were determined to amend the Constitution to allow Arnold Schwartzenegger to run for pres in 2008. More of the same nonsense.

What an amature!

Palin and her minions were totally suckered into spending her last week arguing with the blogsphere instead of addressing her talking points. They baited her ego by bringing her wardrobe up and she charged head-long into the trap. Vice presidential material? Hardly.

"What a rube,

I don't believe in picking on innocent people but this went right at her massive arrogant ego. Can you imagine the kind of shit she could be manipulated into believing if she were elected?!

We should cut Hank Jr. a little slack.

In 1975 he fell 500 feet and landed on his head tearing his face almost completely off and exposing his brain to the open air. Draw your own conclusions.

Friday, November 7, 2008 08:42 AM

I hope Palin's narcissism

prevents her from letting this issue die quietly. This is the election that could truly split the Republican Party.

Tuesday, November 11, 2008 10:38 AM

Without introspection and the

willingness to admit mistakes and susbstantial changes, the Republican party is stuck in the mud. This reads more like a falling out between thieves. These guys need to accept that most of the electorate has never heard of Norman Rockwell.

Tuesday, November 11, 2008 01:27 PM

@bearpaw1

I probably should have expanded more on the thought. I'm not trying to compare Norman Rockwell's personal/poltical phylosophy with the Republicans. I just think that all the Republican happy talk of Joe-the-(unlicensed)-Plumber, Hockey Moms, My Friends, You Betcha's and Say it ain't so Joe's show a party that is totally out of touch with the majority contemporary Americans and living in an idealized past that may have never existed.

Elephantman is right!

True conservatives:

- Think Africa is a country

- Can't name the countries in North America

- Don't know what the Bush doctrine is

Shep Smith doesn't meet any of these criteria.

Kathleen Parker needs to understand

that Obama's victory, like dinosaur fossils, is God's way of testing the faith of The Righteous. Those who advocate ejecting the evangelicals from the Republican Party will spend eternity in a lake of fire for their heresey.

Just another wonderful issue

that I will use at upcoming holiday parties to bait drunken conservative dipshits into taking a swing at me.

Monday, December 8, 2008 01:48 PM
Original article: Sen. Jesse Jackson Jr.?

I must have been watching a different

campaign. I do remember Jackson's comment that Obama was castrating black men.

Jackson Jr's support in Illinois does not extend beyond his own district in which, conveniently, PUSH headquarters is located. Appointing Jackson Jr. would be a stupid move that could re-energize the currently listless and pathetic Illinois Republican Party. I doubt Jackson Jr could survive the 2010 campaign.

Nothing about Blago's actions

leads me to believe he will resign of his own accord. And the previous poster makes a good point that Blago has not been convicted of anything yet. I'm guessing that Illinois law will allow Blago to conduct business until he is convicted of a crime. The Illinois legislature can impeach him, but they will have to try him and convict him of a crime. In short, it will take some extrordinary extra-legal pressure to get rid of him right away. Should be interesting.

The Chicago Sun Times lists a few alternatives

for preventing a Blago-designated Senate appointment:

- Illinois Secretary of State could refuse to certify the appointment

- The US Senate could refuse to seat the appointment

- Illinois Senate could pass a bill stripping Blago of the power to make appointments (could be vetoed by Blago)

Original article: Jesse Jr. worked with feds?

I weep for Elephantman

Jesse Jackson Jr + Soprano's + 10-year-old Justice Dept. "admonishment" (not rule) + someone's toes in Chicago = ?????

WTF is his point? Clearly, the election has taken a sad toll on the man...

Wednesday, December 17, 2008 12:57 PM

Onward with the impeachment!

This has the makings for some truly great theater. Blago's attorney, Ed Gensen, is an old-school mob lawyer known for his courtroom histrionics. And as a member of the Illinois Legislature noted today, "we're not bound by any rules of evidence" (in the impeachment proceedings). Yeeeehawwww!

Harry Reid already warned Blago that

the Senate Democrats would not seat any Senator appointed by him so this is really just an exercise in brinksmanship.

In other news, the Illinois Legislature is having difficulty coming up with any coherent standard for impeachment. They seem to think "because we don't like you" is good enough. Watch for the circus to continue.

Tuesday, December 30, 2008 11:41 AM

I didn't know there was case law

addressing that issue, thanks. Blago may also get blocked by the Illinois Secretary of State who, I am told, can refuse to "certify" the appointment.
