Restoring America's Credibility

The Bush administration began as a national tragedy and evolved into a world tragedy. I hope that Fitzgerald can bring some strong cases against these individuals and restore the perception, both at home and abroad, that this country is still governed by an indepedent rule-of-law.

Silent Dick

He gets quiet like that when he is scheming more treachery.

Failure in Iraq has been a certainty

since 1990 when Bush I analyzed the possibility of success of occupying Iraq in Gulf War 1. Hey Joe, where you goin' with that gun in your hand?

Friday, January 12, 2007 07:13 AM

Bush's kind always resort to tears

when they've run out of other tactics. They've mastered it since childhood. It always worked on mommy so why not the American public.

If your current company cannot survive without you

then their business model is flawed anyway. A viable company must be able to survive without the presence of a particular individual (you, me, anyone).

If you have signed a non-compete agreement with your current employer, have it reviewed by an attorney before making any decisions or telling anyone anything. Or you may find yourself out on the street with no job at all and facing a lawsuit if you violate that agreement.

Good Luck.

Aww, Leave the poor old coot alone!

He was held prisoner by the North Vietnamese and tortured for years. You really can't expect someone who has been through that to have all his sensibilities in tact.

Joe, it's actually called

the "when did you stop beating your wife?" approach. But your version says a lot about you.

Speedy's 2-day reprieve

is about nothing more than giving his testimony it's own news cycle. If he testified today the story would be buried under the Virginia Tech tragedy. Good work by Leahy.

Memo to McCain:

There is no such thing as "Off The Record". You are far to delusional to hold any public office, let alone POTUS.

If the Marines are so great

then why haven't they won the war already? Mr. Cheney promised us victory within months, its been 4 years. If anyone is giving aid and comfort to the enemy, its the USMC by doing such a poor job.

Kissin' Cousins

American should be reminded on a daily basis that Giuliani's first wife was his own cousin. Yeah, sure, the same can be said about FDR, but this is the post-9/11 world, everything has changed.

Lies, lies, lies

The knowledge that the toppling of Saddam Hussien would stoke sectarian violence and civil war was established in 1991 during the 1st gulf war. To say that "we could never have forseen this" is complete garbage. Bush 1 even said so in his memoirs.

I would love to see

The sad thing is that

by this fall, many more Republicans will be calling for withdrawl because their re-election will be on the line. But for now it is politically expedient for them to allow our troops to continue to die.

Big Words

from a guy who married his own cousin. Must make for some pretty awkward family reunions.

It was hilarious and

right up there with Bette Midler laying on Johnny Carson's desk and singing "You Are The Wind Beneath My Wings". A rare and classic moment on TV.

More Troops, more targets

Exactly what Al Qaeda wanted. Fresh supplies of Americans to slaughter and they don't even have to travel out of town to do it. Heckuva job Brownie.

As Rush Limbaugh would say

"Clintonian Hairsplitting". This administation has taken it to a whole new level.

Call me narrow-minded

or maybe it's because he's a Republican, but every time I hear the name Huckabee I'm visited by images of bare feet, missing teeth and a banjo. Apologies to Bela Fleck.

Mitt's just not trying hard enough.

He forgot to remind the voters that Barack Obama's middle name is Hussein!

Further proof

that women are still 2nd class citizens as far as the Republicans are concerned.

The wounded vets should be thankful

that they aren't being charged with desertion as well.

Tuesday, December 4, 2007 09:33 AM

A few years ago

this would have worried me. But Bush has so thoroughly destroyed his own credibility that these statements amount to no more that a truculent child screaming "look at me! look at me!" He lacks the international support, domestic support and fighting resources to threaten Iran. This is his pathetic way at trying to remain "relevant".

Wednesday, December 12, 2007 10:40 AM

Huckabee goes a long way

in assuming that Bush won't be simply too lazy to take the job.

Tuesday, January 8, 2008 11:49 AM

I doubt that

a "527" campaign against Obama would resonate well with an electorate so clearly demanding change.

We'll always have

the re-runs.

The issue of US Troop strength in Iraq

is all speculation at this point. What really counts is the situation in Iraq in the late summer and fall going into the election. US troops are scheduled to be drawn down to the pre-surge levels by June. There may be some additional draw downs, that very few are willing to discuss, because the current administration has run our Army straight into the ground.

There will be a big power vacuum opening in Iraq in the near future. If the Iraqi's can fill it with the rule-of-law, McCain may be in a position to claim the success of the surge. If the vacuum is filled by anarchy, McCain's surge will just be a vague memory in a long list of failures.

@supergroover

Spoken like a true cry-baby Cubs fan. Lemme know if they ever win a World Series. Still got that White Sox jersey you ran out and bought on October 2005?

It take a real America-hater

to walk out on his/her constitutional legislative reponsibilties.

Wednesday, February 20, 2008 07:46 AM

Last time I checked

the President of the United States was chosen by the Electoral College who have the power to undermine the popular vote. Given this dynamic, the "electability" of any candidate, Democrat or Republican, is a secondary issue. The victory will go to the party that can convince, bribe, cajole, coerce or otherwise influence the members of the Electoral College. God Bless America.

Lynx

Since 2000, the American people have been on the receiving end of numerous unlikely and unprecendented scenarios.

Wednesday, February 20, 2008 09:14 AM

@RJforHRC

Bullshit. Obama's Senate mentor is Senator Richard Durbin (D-IL). Durbin has stood strong against Bush from Day 1. Unlike Hillary, he never supported the Iraq resolution so he's never had to avoid the issue and make hair-splitting excuses for himself.
