Penis isn't the difference.
[Read the article: Blaming the victim?]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]If I had a penis
and got piss faced drunk in a bar, and stripped completely naked, and then passed out the chances of my getting raped (hey- he was drunk and naked so totaly asking for it) would be pretty damn slim.
------------------------------------------
If this actually occured, the chances are the man would be violated in a manner that would constitute rape.
People would write on his face and take pictures at the very minimum if someone didn't come to his rescue.
The same applies to women, any passed out drunk person is likely going to be a victim unless there is someone around to help. This is because the person is surrounded by likewise drunk and judgement impaired people.
It doesn't excuse the assault by any means, but getting completely drunk is not a wise thing to do.

German public assistance
[Read the article: The doctor is in deep trouble]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]only 10 percent of single-parent households receive government assistance.
---------------------------------
Unless something has changed, this is simply untrue in Germany. Every German household gets a rather substantial allowance per child per month, regardless of income.
The 10% is for total government support.

Regulation is inappropriate
[Read the article: Anorexia claims another model]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Regulation is inappropriate because how on Earth do you determine whether the person is naturally thin or just not eating enough. Looking at her pictures, she's thin, but does not appear anorexic.
Any regulation would require that eating be monitored, and the models lives and work in various countries. Who’s going to be the food nanny?
At one time at 5’10” tall I weight 103 lbs as a man, that’s thinner than she was. Even at the age of 30 I dropped to 113lbs, though that was because I had my wisdom teeth pulled and couldn’t eat enough to maintain weight. (Dropped from 134lbs to 113lbs in less than two weeks)
Nobody wants to see models die because they haven’t followed proper nutrition, and anorexia is a serious issue, but the cure is not nearly as simple as regulation. Sure, we ban athletes from using certain substances, but we can test for these substances. There is no anorexia test. Many people naturally fall under a 18.5 BMI, should they not be allowed to work simply because they are thin?

Starving criteria
[Read the article: Anorexia claims another model]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]If the WHO has a criteria to determine if a person is starving we can regulate this.
And yes – if you are too thin you can’t work as a model. If Hooters can fire girls for being too fat Ford can fire girls who are too thin.
---------------------------------------------------
So now the dictatorship of the average over the thin.
Here's your view of how the World should work.
Sorry, you can't compete for that $100,000 job because your BMI is 18, despite the fact you eat 3,500 calories a day, instead it's going to the person with a BMI of 18.7 who eats 700 calories a day.
BTW, we are doing this in order to regulate and ensure anorexia is stamped out of the modeling business.
Seriously, why don't we just appoint our own Minister of Vice and Public Morality and require every women to weigh women and measure them before they are allowed to work?

A child is not a medical error
[Read the article: The doctor is in deep trouble]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Those defending this ruling have equated a child to a medical error. This is wholly abhorrent.
Birth Control is NEVER 100% there are inherent possible consequences to having sex, primarily having a child that was not intended. Supposing the Doctor actually made a grievous error and the implant failed, to consider his liability in this instance to be the same as if the wrong leg were operated on equates a child as a non-living entity.
Suing for the medically error is one thing, to sue over the removed results of the error is another. It would be akin to suing because you lost your leg, then suing later because you fell because you lost your leg.
Sue for the cost of the procedure and damages, but don’t dehumanize the child and sue as if said child were the equivalent of a botched nose job.

Delusional?
[Read the article: Anorexia claims another model]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]And anyone who thinks that 88 pounds at 5'8" is doable any way except anorexia is delusional.
---------------------------------
At 5'10" and 103lbs, I beat that BMI despite eating well over 4,000 calories a day. I didn't break into the 120s until my early 20s and couldn't break 130 until my mid 30s, and I'm a heavy one in my family.
I father is 6' and weighs about 115, my grandfather was 6'3" and weighed less than 120, the most he ever weighed was 155lbs when he was in the military.
There are plenty of people including males who fall under that BMI range.

None of the money will go to settle the lawsuits
[Read the article: O.J.'s profit motive]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]From what I've read, it will all go to his children. That said, it's very easy to setup the book sale in a manner where none of the proceeds are attachable by judgment.

Party of One
[Read the article: Connecticut against Lieberman]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Perhaps John Orman doesn't understand that he can't both nominate and second himself for a leadership role in anything.
When a political entity is created, bylaws are written, and absent any specific bylaws, Robert's rules of Order are used. Robert's does not normally allow the chair to make a motion nor second, and it certainly doesn't allow for the chair to do both, plus, the chair can only vote in a tie.
If he were smart and wanted to make an issue out of it, get 10 or so people to join and work according to the bylaws.
Besides, the CFL is not a political party in the terms of a primary election, it's simply a product by which a candidate can run as an independent. Which Lieberman did, and he won.
It seems a small number of people are determined to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory and are doing everything possible in order to bring about some self fulfilled prophecy of Lieberman not cacussing with Democrats.
