House of War
[Read the article: Mocking Bush is my patriotic duty]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Islam is however at its core *designed* for conquest. All of the other statements about equality are true - Islam recognizes no class, race, which would have been very appealing - but there is one area in which Islam definitely discrimates. Can you guess what that is?
That's right, its between Muslims and non-Muslims. Do you know what they call the lands in which non-Muslims live? The House of War.
The House of War, Xanthro.
Golden Boy
---------------------------------------------------
Show me where the term Dar al-Harb (house of war) exists in the Quran. It's not there, and neither is Dar al-Islam (house of submission).
While the Quran does us the term Dar al-Kufr (house of infidels) this specifically refers to Quresh tribe to which Muhammad belonged. Specifically, the period of his exile from Mecca. It applies in no other situation.
While it is true that today's Islamic fascists use the term Dar al-Harb, it has no factually religious foundation in Islam. It’s a distortion of the type to which all religions are subject.
Do you know that Muhammad would not accept converts simply because they felt Islam provided more benefits? That’s because conversion had to heartfelt, and was between the person and God. Hence the prohibition of the use of any force in conversion to Islam.
Now, idiots behead people in the name of Islam, which is no more Islamic than lynching blacks in the name of racial purity was Christian, and neither have a religious foundation.
You are using the interpretation of people after Muhammad died in order to justify your position. While some of these interpretation have great acceptance today, there we unheard of in Muhammad’s time.

WWI
[Read the article: A history of nonviolence]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]"Both Russia and France mobilized their armies, declared war and attacked Germany before Germany did anything." DZ
----------------------------------
That's untrue. Russia and France moblized started mobilizing their armies before Germany, and Germany started mobilization in response, but Germany finished mobilizing first and struck France before France had finished mobilization.
This was part of the German war doctrine at the time. Facing a two front war, the goal was to knock one front out of the war before the other front could conduct offensive operations. Since it was assumed Russia would take longer to moblized, the goal was to knock off France then turn the forces toward Russia, if war broke out.
Germany declared war on France on August 3rd, 1914.
France declared war on Germany first in WWII, on Sept. 3rd 1939, two days after Germany invaded Poland.

[Read the article: My niece's suitors want to know too much too soon]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Why are we assuming the ethnic background for these suitors?
We don't know anything about them other than they are interested in the niece.

Not as easy to get ID as it sounds
[Read the article: The GOP wants to see your I.D.]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Sure, in big cities in many States getting photo ID is not that hard.
However, having lived in places where getting that ID means a 40 minute to an hour drive one way, waiting in line for another hour, it takes a toll.
Now add, people who don't drive, usually poor, people who are not employed, usually poor, and have no need for a photo ID at all.
Seriously, there will be hundreds of thousands of people getting ID only so they can vote, as it will have no other purpose.
While present obstacles to voting? I've seen far more voter intimidation than I've ever seen voter fraud.
Suppressing votes is wrong, and the Republican party has a recent history of working to suppress votes. It's a sad legacy.
Also, Photo ID does nothing to even prevent voter fraud. If you're going to vote in multiple places, do so via absentee ballots, or simply have more than one ID, or just vote twice in different locations, if you can do that now, you'd still be able to vote twice with an photo ID.
Voting is a RIGHT, not something I, nor anyone needs to prove merit in order to excercise that right.
