Yes Manhattanite, let's have Lieberman vote for Republican leadership.
[Read the article: Lieberman: I'm bringing people together]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]"I just wrote to Hilary Clinton and Harry Reid, asking them to push the Democratic leadership to remove Lieberman from committees. He is no longer a Democrat. He does not belong in the party. We don't need another Zell Miller who will work actively to undermine the Democratic party."
-- Manhattanite
--------------------------------------------------------
That could be one of the most short sighted positions ever taken, but it is very representational of the far lefts thinking.
You know why Bush hasn't endorsed the Republican candidate? Because that person won't win, and if people like you get their way, the Republican get a vote for Republican leadership in the Senate.
It what will be one of the tightest races for Senate control ever, you and your ilk are doing their best to give a seat to the Republicans.
Either Lamont or Lieberman will win, and nothing you hold dear will stand a chance of being enacted if the Democrats don't control either the Senate or the House. Taking actions that may force the front runner into voting against your interest is not rational thinking.

No Manhattanite, you are far left.
[Read the article: Lieberman: I'm bringing people together]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]The extreme wings of the parties are no longer indentfied by purely policy choices or positions, but how much purity is demanded in the adherence of those policies.
Anyone using the term DINO or RINO is a member of the extreme wing of their respective party.
Odd that you'd associate Marx, Mao and Lenin with the Democratic Party, because I certainly don't.
"Lieberman is a Republican in Democratic clothing. The Democratic party does not need a traitor in its ranks."
That statement alone qualifies you as an extremist, because you care more about purity than anything else.
Nothing makes someone a Democrat or a Republican other than registration.
Lieberman is a Democrat because he registered that way and votes for Democratic leadership in the Senate. Even if he voted 100% of the time with Repubilican, as long as he votes for Democratic leadership he's a Democrat.
What you blindly fail to understand is that each individual Senator matters little, it's the leadership that matters.
Gaining enough Senate seats for a 50/50 split is a loss.
All you, and your extremist allies, which include most of the posters on Salon, have done is take a perfectly safe Democratic seat and put it up for play.
That's why people like Coulter are so gleeful, because Democracts commit themselves to the most defeating positions possible.
It's like those idiots backing Nadar, claiming there is no difference between Gore and Bush. It's wasn't just short sighted, it was idiotic.
Back Lamont all you want, but don't take positions that push Leibernman into not supporting Democratic leadership.
If you hate your boss, you don't go into his or her office and mouth off about your hatred. Why? Because you want to keep your job. The same is true in politics, if you want those Liberal social policies to have a chance of being enacted, then don't commit the political equivilent of telling you boss to go to hell.

There is no such thing as an open relationship
[Read the article: My boyfriend wants an open relationship]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]It doesn't exist. There is shared sex, but it's not a real relationship.
Also, Cary is way off the mark here:
"It seems like the logical thing to do is try it. Breaking up without trying it doesn't make much sense, given that it will be painful either way. That would be somewhat like saying that you'd like to go to Europe with your boyfriend, but you're afraid that if you do, you might have a fight and break up"
A relationship is not like going to Europe. There's no harm in going to Europe, but there is harm in an open relationship. That is it's not something you really want. It's clear by your letter.
You love the man and want to be with him and him alone. Having another person in the picture is not a quick trip to Europe, it's a destruction of your current relationship.
Would you be happy knowing your significant other is out having sex with other men? It doesn't appear that you would.
You've stated you don't see you two staying together forever, so perhaps now is the time to break off a relationship you don't see as lasting and find someone who will care for you long term and you will care for him in the same manner.

Nothing wrong with a speedo
[Read the article: Speedo freaks]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]I really don't swim much any more, but I dive, and a speedo is simply far more comfortable under a wetsuit or a drysuit than other types of swimsuits.
-
Odd, that you would read that into it.

Odd that you equate our senators with the voters' bosses; I thought it was the other way around. -- Reality-based Liberal
---------------------------------
I didn't equate Senator's as bosses. I compared how we don't piss off our boss just because we may hate him or her, because it's not in our self interest, to how it's not in our self interest to piss off a Senator who's vote you may need for control of the Senate.
That comparison has nothing to do with the relationship power between the elected and voters. You know this, but decided to join the Fox News method of analysis.

Typical extreme left wing response.
[Read the article: Lieberman: I'm bringing people together]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Xanthro is a Bush troll. Just read his posts on other topics. Manhattanite
--------------------------------
Somebody disagrees with you then they must be working for the other side. That's why so many of you hate Lieberman so much, because he's a high profile person with whom you disagree, therefore he must be an enemy.
You're as bad as the Republicans in this regard.
Plain and simple, Bush is an unqualified idiot who I've take every opportunity to vote against and work against his election.
What Manhattanite and groupies have done is vote for people like Nadar complaining that there is no difference between Gore and Bush, then having the gall to complain when Bush wins.
The short sightedness is amazing.
What nobody can disagree with is the simple fact that Connecticut was a safe Democratic seat, and now by vilifing Lieberman, you run the possiblity of losing of vote for Democratic Senate leadership.
Just stab cutting off your nose to spite your face.
