  • Fear Itself

[Read the article: "Soft on terrorism" or soft in the head?]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

Let me get this straight. An overwhelming majority of Americans WANT the Democrats to stand up to asshat George Bush, who is supported by only 30 percent of Americans. Seventy percent think he's the worst president in history. And yet, according to today's NYT, Democrats "fear" that if they don't cave in to whatever Bush wants re FISA, then they'll be seen as being soft on terra. But if only 30 percent of Americans think the Democrats are soft on terra, what friggin' difference does it make? What in hell is there to FEAR?

Oh, wait. Now I get it. There actually IS something to afraid of. Very afraid. Look at what the wingnuts and the fascist swine operators are doing to Graeme Frost and his family. A major Swiftboating. These guys (and gals, don't forget Michelle!) mean business. They'll stop at nothing.

And when they get done with destroying the Frost family, YOURS may be next. So watch what you say. They are watching you verrrrry carefully, and they're taking notes.

  • What Law?

[Read the article: The Beltway Establishment's contempt for the rule of law]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

Bush has a 30 percent approval rating, and 70 percent of Americans want us out of Iraq, and also clearly want the Democrats to finally stand up to the fascist Republican crime machine. But Congressional Democrats will simply roll over and give Bush whatever he wants--including a free pass for all the telecoms. The reason? Well, they "fear" that Republicans will brand them soft on terra.

Oh, I see. The 30 percenters are more powerful than the 70 percenters. Right. Up is down, and down is up. I forgot.

  • Breaking News: ANYTHING Can Happen!!!

[Read the article: How Hillary could tank]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

Shorter version of Walt Shapiro: Hillary probably will be nominated and then elected president. Unless something reeeeely BAD happens. In which case she won't.

Wow. And you thought intelligent political commentary was dead in this country.

    Dear Col. Boylan:

Your display of unprofessionalism and stunning illiteracy and incoherence in your recent email exchange with Salon columnist Glenn Grenwald is, in my opinion, a violation of Article 133 of the Uniform Code of Military Justice, which refers to conduct unbecoming an officer and gentleman. You cearly have engaged in "...acts of dishonesty, unfair dealing, indecency, indecorum..." and you ought to resign forthwith.

    Sincerely,

    John Palcewski

  • Conduct Unbecoming An Officer? Or Forgery?

subject Conduct Unbecoming An Officer? Or Forgery?

    Dear sir:

You may be aware of the recent email interchange between Col. Steven Boylan (an aide to Gen. David Petraeus, commander of US Forces in Iraq), and Salon columnist Glenn Greenwald.

Reviewing this correspondence you may conclude there are but two possibilities: a) Col. Boylan violated the UCMJ article outlining conduct unbecoming an officer by writing an unsolicited, ungrammatical, incoherent and highly politicized email to Mr. Greenwald, or b) someone in Col. Boylan’s office or elsewhere forged it.

Either way, there's a crime here, and you ought to begin an investigation forthwith. You might review the matter here:

    http://www.salon.com/opinion/greenwald/

I've been an American taxpayer for a very long time and, as you doubtless know, the military is subordinate to civilians. In other words you, sir, have a moral and legal obligation to let me know what you intend to do about this issue.

  • Brazen It Out

[Read the article: Col. Boylan's implosion accelerates]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

I sent Col. Boylan a post suggesting that he resign. He did not reply because I suppose he intends to do what Sen. Larry Craig did, and that is to brazen it out, and simply repeat his or his superior's talking points, no matter how absurd they are. This whole thing is sad, bizarre. But ultimately it's just the tip of the massive iceberg of neo-con criminality and incompetence.

  • Clever Troll

[Read the article: Only America-hating traitors believe in due process for journalists]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

Ah, right out of the chute comes the troll. The one who thinks he's clever.

  • The New Attorney General

[Read the article: Waterboarding is not simulated drowning -- it is drowning]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

Maybe the new Attorney General will read Senior Chief Nance's courageous and truthful letter, or maybe someone in the Bush administration will brief him on it. Net result? Not a single thing. Zip.

You see, we have come to the point in America where the truth simply does not matter to the president of the United States, and neither does it matter to any Republican official or congressman. They all are lockstep behind the fascist policies that are literally destroying the constitution.

Honorable people like Senior Chief Nance are ignored when they speak truth to power, and when that doesn't work, the Republican fascists will arrange another Swiftboating. Very soon the whispering campaign will begin with Drudge. Then the attacks against Senior Chief Nance will escalate. He'll be called a traitor, and a coward, and a moral failure.

This is what America has become. And apparently there's not a damned thing anyone can do about it.

  • Joe Klein & Capitulation

[Read the article: Joe Klein: Both factually false and stuck in the 1980s]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

Why should Joe Klein worry about being exposed as factually challenged? All he has to do is simply go on, saying whatever he wants, knowing that a totally apathetic public won't ever hold him accountable.

So screw Joe Klein. What I'd like to hear is more about chubby Scottie, and his absolutely astonishing, breathtaking, unexpected and totally mind-numbing revelation that he passed on LIES to the American People from none other than the President of the United States!

And after I hear the details, I'll go back to my espresso doppio con latte caldo and just wait for a totally apathetic public to do what it does best. Absolutely fucking nothing.

  • CNN Says Prez Has "Lowered the Bar"

[Read the article: Bush on Iran: I didn't know about halt to weapons program (but it doesn't matter)]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

Since when have facts mattered to the President of the United States? In the face of facts, the President repeats his spin and BS. The world scratches its head. Then laughs. What a moron. Honest to God. And you say he has a full year left to spout this stuff?
